Peloton has quietly added a new rowing class to the upcoming class schedule that features a special guest.
This will be a Peloton rowing class featuring both Alex Karwoski and Nick Mead – two Olympians who work for Peloton.
The class is called “Champion Row”, and will be a 30 min row taking place on Sunday, August 18th @ 10:30am ET. If you can’t take the class live, it will be added to the on-demand library in the hours after it takes place.
The official class description for the Peloton rowing class with Nick Mead & Alex Karwoski reads:
Train like a champion with Alex Karwoski and 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist, World Champion Rower, and Peloton team member Nick Mead.
At this time, it isn’t clear whether it will be a two-for-one style class, with Peloton placing two rowers on the instructor platform. If not, this would likely be a featured guest class, where Peloton sets up a camera and light on a rower that a member would typically use, and gives Nick a microphone. This would enable Alex to interview Nick, and have him featured on screen for a good portion of class as well. We have seen this in other classes, such as a Becs Gentry x Lindsey Stirling class.
We recently shared that during the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the US rowing team took first place in the four-man rowing event. One member of that team was Nick Mead – who works for Peloton. Nick would then go on to be one of the flag bearers for Team USA in the closing ceremonies along with Katie Ledecky.
Typically, Nick works in the office at Peloton and is not featured on-screen for classes. However, Peloton has made the decision to highlight Nick in an upcoming class alongside Alex Karwoski – a fellow Olympian and a rowing instructor at Peloton who members are used to taking classes with.
Alex, who competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio and was also an alternate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, has competed in rowing events with Nick before. The two Olympians teamed up during the Head of the Charles rowing event in 2023, and took second place.
Nick Mead also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (which ended up taking place in 2021), and came in fourth place for Team USA in the eight man event.
It remains to be seen if this appearance by Nick Mead is a one-off occurance in a Peloton class, or if Peloton might feature him again in other classes.
