Peloton Employee Nick Mead Wins a Gold Medal in Rowing at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France

A Peloton employee won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics currently unfolding in Paris, France.

Nick Mead works as a Senior Transportation Planner for Peloton and competed in the four-man rowing event on August 1, finishing in first place for Team USA.

UpdateNick will be featured in a “Champion Row” class with Alex Karwoski.

Peloton shared their excitement across social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram Stories. The posts included a photo of Nick with the gold medal around his neck, with the captions: “Peloton employee by day, Team USA rowing champ by night” and a screenshot of Nick’s Slack status showing that he is out of the office.

Team USA won the race by 0.85 seconds. According to NBC, this was the first time the US has won gold in the 4-person rowing in 64 years – with the last victory coming in 1960.

The four-man team was interviewed by NBC correspondent Maria Taylor and discussed their day jobs, during which Nick mentioned that he works for Peloton and shouted out numerous members of his team.

Peloton instructor Alex Karwoski is also an Olympian and has teamed up with Nick in the past. The two won second place in the Men’s Elite Pair (Invitational) category at the Head of the Charles rowing event in October of 2023.

Alex competed in the Olympic trials for rowing earlier this year, but did not qualify. He competed in 2016 in Rio De Janeiro and as an alternate in 2020 in Tokyo.

Nick also competed in the Tokyo Olympics in the eight men event, coming in 4th place. You can view Nick’s complete profile via the Team USA website.
