If you woke up this morning to a “Welcome to Peloton” email – you are not alone.
Peloton appears to have sent new member emails to a large portion of their customers – including existing members. There are many reports this morning of existing members who received this email.
Update – More than 24 hours later, Peloton sent out a correction. It said:
Yesterday morning you received an email welcoming you to Peloton, but we know you’ve been a part of the Peloton Community for a while. We’re sorry for the confusion – there’s no action needed from you, no change to your membership, and you will not incur any additional fees.
There are slight variations of this email sent – although most have the subject “Welcome to Peloton”

Within the email – different hardware devices are highlighted – seemingly based on what your most recently purchased hardware device is – even if it was from years ago. Some people have reported receiving the email about the Row, others the Treads, while others got emails highlighting their “new” bike.
The emails point out what new members should be doing, for example:
It’s time to row. Learn how to set up your Peloton Row,get to know the features and metrics, and get all the info you need to have a great start.
Another version reads:
Trying to decide which class to take first? We’ve got your back—and a few suggestions. Start easy with 10-minute walks or dive straight into more intense interval training. Find motivation and start getting faster and stronger right now.
This does not appear to have been a hack of Peloton – rather a marketing email being sent to the wrong portion of Peloton’s email database.
No account data / workout history should have been lost either by anyone who received this email.
We will share any updates on this if they become available.
