Peloton has updated its in-person Studio class booking process to hold your spot for 10 minutes once you reach checkout, giving members more time to complete their purchase.
The start of the process, which we walk through in our guide to booking Studio classes, is unchanged.
You click “Book” on a class, then “View Registration Options,” and then the “Single Session” price. The change comes on the following page, where you enter your payment details.
It now displays a “Your cart is reserved for” countdown, holding your spot for a full 10 minutes. Despite the wording, it is not a true shopping cart: you still book and pay for one class at a time, rather than adding several classes and checking out all at once.

Previously, your spot was not locked in until you completed the purchase, so if someone entered their credit card faster than you, you could lose the spot and land on an error screen. Now, as long as you reach the checkout page, your spot should be held for the full 10 minutes, giving you time to add a new card or select a saved one. If you have not checked out within that window, the spot is released.
The change should help members who are less familiar with the process, especially anyone adding a credit card for the first time, get through checkout without racing the clock. On the other hand, it will likely make it slightly harder for frequent bookers to grab the maximum number of spots, since booking now favors whoever reaches checkout first rather than whoever enters their card fastest.

Since classes are released at 12:00pm ET on Thursdays each week, this also means there could be some waitlist or confirmed spots opening back up to book at 12:10pm as people who were thinking about a certain class have the cart released if they ended up not booking it.
This is the second major change to the Studio booking process this year, after Peloton raised the booking limit from four to six in February.
Do you think the 10-minute hold will make booking Studio classes easier or harder for you?
