Peloton recently added a new feature to the Peloton Strength+ app that allows you to build your own entirely custom workouts manually.

A notification announcing the new feature was pushed out to the app. The changelog for this new feature describes it as “You can now build your own custom workouts from start to finish. Head to the generator and choose exactly which exercises you want to do and create your perfect workout from scratch.”

Previously, the Strength+ app would generate a workout for you based on duration, body focus area, difficulty, and availably gym equipment. While that feature is still available (“Generate workout”), there is now a second option to “Build your own.”

When you are in the “Generator” tab at the bottom of the Strength+ app, you will see a “+” at the top of your screen. Once you click on the “+”, the two options will display at the bottom to either generate a workout based on your selections or build your own custom workout.

Once you select “Build your own,” you will be prompted to name your workout so you can save it to take in the future and also add your exercises.

To add exercises to your custom workout, you can check each from the alphabetical list, search for specific exercises or equipment, or you can filter based on target muscles or equipment.

Once you have added the exercises to your custom workout, you can then edit the number of sets and reps for each by clicking on the ellipses next to the exercise.

The Strength+ app gives you the option now to pick from something pre-programmed and know you will get a well-rounded workout (the original generator), or to use the app to create your own to work out exactly the way you intend (the new “Build Your Own”).

Peloton recently shared more details in a blog post:

“One of our favorite parts of Peloton’s Strength+ App? The ability to create your own workouts to come back to whenever you want with the Workout Generator. Now, we’re introducing even more flexibility to create workouts that fit your goals. In addition to generating a workout with our filters, Members can now build their own workout entirely from scratch using the 500+ movements in our library. Reorder exercises, build circuits, and edit the number of sets and reps, then save it with a unique name and share it with friends and family. Personalizing your workouts with Peloton has never been easier!”

At this time, there is still have no information on when Peloton Strength+ will be available on Android or in other countries outside of the U.S.

What do you think of this new Strength+ feature to create and save your own workouts? Will it help your strength training?
