This is the first beginner level strength program available in the Strength+ app. Nearly all of the 19 programs are intermediate level, with one advanced program from Logan Aldridge (“Dynamic Strength”).

Andy explained more about the beginner hypertrophy training program in the preview, sharing:

“If you’re new to strength training or stepping back into the gym after a break, this program is for you. I’m going to teach you how to train intelligently, how to move effectively, and how to set yourself up for long-term success.
Spark Your Strength is a four week program, three days of full-body strength training and two days of mobility work. I programmed five days to help you start a new routine. By the end of this program, you’ll be equipped with the tools and discipline you’ll need for a lifetime of strength training.”

Andy went on to say that by the end of the four weeks, you will be ready to take “Spark Your Strength” again or you can move into his intermediate program, “Ignite Your Strength.”

Taking “Spark Your Strength” as designed will use the following gym equipment: dumbbells, kettlebell, bench, cable machine, pull up bar, medicine ball, and a plyo box. As always with the Strength+ app, if you do not have access to a certain piece of gym equipment, you can swap an exercise out for something comparable.

The suggested program schedule for “Spark Your Strength” is workouts on days 1 through 5 and recovery on days 6 and 7.

Weeks 1 through 4

  • Workout 1: 45 minute Full Body Strength
  • Workout 2: 20 minute Mobility
  • Workout 3: 45 minute Full Body Strength
  • Workout 4: 20 minute Mobility
  • Workout 5: 45 minute Full Body Strength

In the program schedule on the app, each Full Body Strength day is specifically named by the Week and Day of the week (e.g., W3D1). This likely means that the Full Body Strength workouts are different across the four weeks.
