Sam Yo has launched a new Peloton signature series, Video Store Rides, built around movie soundtracks.
Peloton announced the series via Instagram, writing:
“The Video Store is officially open 📼 Move to iconic film soundtracks in Sam Yo’s brand-new signature series, Video Store Rides. First up: a ride packed with hits from 80s blockbusters.”
The first class, Sam’s 30 min Video Store Ride from 10/18/26 @ 7:30am ET, aired live from London on Sunday and is now available on demand.
Peloton describes the class as:
“This ride is made for movie lovers. Go back to the future with Sam in a workout featuring hit songs from blockbuster films of the 80s.”
Sam has taught several other Video Store rides over the past few years, but they were unofficial in that they were not labeled as such on the platform. The format now has “Video Store Ride” in the class title.
During the ride, Sam takes members through an imaginary shop he calls Sam’s Video Store. He recalls Friday nights browsing VHS cases and finding that the movie you wanted was already rented. He introduces the store’s slogan as “great movies, better people.”
The movie references also shape the workout. A Ghostbusters climb has riders adding resistance as the song plays, while a karate tournament provides the setup for three resistance pushes. Later, an overdue Indiana Jones tape becomes a five-effort interval section, with 20 seconds of work followed by 20 seconds of recovery. The ride’s main efforts finish with a Footloose dance party.
The full playlist for the first official Video Store class includes:
- “Raiders March” – John Williams
- “You’re The Best” – Joe “Bean” Esposito
- “Ghostbusters” – Ray Parker Jr.
- “Never Ending Story” – Limahl
- “Princes Of The Universe” – Queen
- “The Heat Is On (From "Beverly Hills Cop" Soundtrack)” – Glenn Frey
- “The Mine Car Chase” – John Williams
- “The Batman Theme” – Danny Elfman
- “Footloose” – Kenny Loggins
- “Hungry Eyes (From "Dirty Dancing" Soundtrack)” – Eric Carmen
Besides Sam’s other unlabeled Video Store rides over the years, he has done some other movie-themed classes. These include his Star Wars Ride in 2023 and Music of Marvel Ride in 2024.
Which movie soundtracks would you like to hear in a future Video Store Ride?
