Sam Yo breath work classes added to Peloton Breathwrk app

Sam Yo now has Breathwork (Meditation?) Classes Available in Peloton’s BreathWrk App

Sam Yo has released his first breathwork / meditation content, though it is available only through Peloton’s Breathwrk app rather than the main Peloton platform.

Two classes are available to start: a five-minute Daily Wake Up and a five-minute Daily Wind Down. This appears to be the slightly delayed arrival of the content Sam teased in April, when he shared a clip from a Peloton Studios recording booth and a caption pointing to a “new drop in May.” Rather than landing on the main Peloton app as some expected, it has arrived on Breathwrk.

The classes are part of a “Daily Breathwork” series on the app, so Peloton is billing them as Breathwork.

Peloton has slowly been adding exclusive content to Breathwrk, the breathing app it acquired last year, including Chelsea Jackson Roberts’s “7 Days of Breathwork” program last month. When it introduced the daily series, Peloton described the plan:

“Build it into your day with Daily Breathwork. Two 5-minute, instructor-led sessions dropping every Monday to help you wake up with intention and wind down at night. Plus, Peloton meditations are now available on Breathwrk, with new classes added regularly.”

This week, Sam’s two new classes are those featured classes for the week.

For now, Sam’s breathwork meditation classes can only be found on Breathwrk. Peloton All-Access, Guide, and App+ members can log in to the app for free using their Peloton credentials (App One members are not currently included).

Sam teaching meditation and breathwork is something members have long hoped for, given his background as a former Buddhist monk. He is also out with a book this year, “The Monk’s Mindset,” which merges mindfulness and fitness.

This move is part of Peloton’s broader strategy under CEO Peter Stern, who has talked about moving the company from a cardio brand toward a more complete wellness company, with Breathwrk being one piece of that. It also gives members a reason to open Breathwrk who might not otherwise.
