Report: Amazon considering acquiring Peloton

This evening, The Wall Street Journal broke the news that Amazon is considering an acquisition of Peloton.

Update – There is now a report Nike is also considering an acquisition offer.

The WSJ report states:

Amazon has been speaking to advisers about a potential deal, some of the people said. There’s no guarantee the e-commerce giant will follow through with an offer or that Peloton, which is working with its own advisers, would be receptive.

Other potential suitors are circling, these people said, but no deal is imminent and there may not be one at all.

There are other potential companies that are potentially thinking about making an acquisition offer as well.

Note that at this point the report is simply that Amazon (and others) are considering making offers – but none have been made.

The other thing to bear in mind is there is no guarantee Peloton would accept any acquisition offer.

Peloton stock jumped as much as 40% in after hours trading based on these rumors.

This is a developing story.
