Class Recap: Lil Jon x Alex Toussaint Club Bangers Run on Peloton

On the evening of March 14, Peloton members were treated to a high-energy running class featuring Peloton instructor Alex Toussaint and special guest, Grammy-winning artist Lil Jon who was also at Peloton in New York.

This collaboration marked Lil Jon’s return to PSNY following his previous appearance in a cycling class with Toussaint in June 2024. However, this event was unique as it was Lil Jon’s first time joining a running class, adding a fresh dynamic to the Peloton experience.

The class is officially called “30 min Club Bangers Featuring Lil Jon”, taught by Alex Toussaint on March 14th @ 5:30pm ET, and is available in the on-demand library.

The class was part of Toussaint’s “Club Bangers” series, known for its infectious playlists and party-like atmosphere. The setup featured Lil Jon’s DJ booth at the front of the studio, positioned to the side of the tread podium, giving in-studio members a direct view of him. The lights were dimmed, with special effects mimicking a nightclub ambiance.

At the start of the run, Alex invited all participants into the “club” while off the treadmill, as Lil Jon began singing into his microphone. Alex then stepped onto the treadmill to begin the class, reviewing safety features and treadmill usage. Throughout the session, Lil Jon mixed music at his DJ booth, sang along to various tracks, and hyped up participants, all while staying in sync with Alex, who provided speed and incline cues—and even joined in for a few dance breaks of his own.

Multiple cameras captured the action, providing dynamic angles to keep the experience visually engaging without distracting at-home runners. Like some other recent special classes, this featured some handheld steadycam operators which allowed for unique angles and shots – compared to the normal fixed camera shots most classes feature.

While most of the time Lil Jon was at the DJ booth, the cameras also followed Lil Jon as he moved through the studio from time to time, singing, dancing, and interacting with members, while also ensuring Alex remained in focus as he led the class. This dual perspective made it feel like both a concert and a guided workout. Due to the intimate nature of the tread studio, members enjoyed an up-close and personal experience with Lil Jon, whether attending in person or participating from home.

Peloton member Reshawna C. (#RunRideSlay) attended the class live at Peloton Studios New York and shared her experience:

“I really enjoyed the class! It was my first in-studio class with AT. The vibe and energy were electric, and Lil Jon was in his element. Honestly, it didn’t feel like a workout—it felt like a party.”

As Alex and Lil Jon led the class through the “Club,” participants were energized by tracks spanning multiple genres, featuring artists such as DMX, Bad Bunny, Panic! at the Disco, Bruno Mars, Shaboozey, Nicki Minaj, and F.L.Y., along with some of Lil Jon’s own music. During the same song that played in a previous Club Bangers ride – “Shots” by LMFAO, where Camila and Ash had served H₂O shots to attendees in the ride – Ash and Denis appeared, dancing on either side of Lil Jon’s DJ booth.

Lil Jon then mixed in his hit “Turn Down for What,” prompting a group of Peloton employees to enter the studio and create a dance floor in front of Alex as he continued leading the run. This was another unique moment in a Peloton class.

Lil Jon then formed a mosh pit in front of Alex while performing “Outta Your Mind,” with the employees surrounding him, dancing and jumping. As the camera panned to capture Lil Jon in the mosh pit, runners powered through their final two minutes. The perspective then shifted once more, offering a view from the pit, looking at Alex through the dynamic energy of the crowd.

Peloton member Angela M. (#spin_slay_a) spoke to the last few minutes of the class in her statement:

“I liked that it felt like a party. Lots of energy and that they went around the crowd to include the members there. Also, the dancers at the end made it feel like one big party.”

This is not the first time artists have appeared in their own Peloton Artist Series and performed—Mariah Carey and Lizzo, for example, have done so. Some artists, like Lindsey Stirling, have even visited the Tread Studio, though without performing. However, this run surpassed anything Peloton has done before with a featured artist in the Tread studio.
