New “Pure Pump 2” Strength Program from Jermaine Johnson on Peloton’s Strength+ App

Jermaine Johnson has a new program called “Pure Pump 2” that was just added to the Peloton Strength+ app. This is a follow-up to Jermaine’s “Pure Pump” program, which was one of 6 programs launched as part of the Peloton Strength+’s initial launch.

“Pure Pump 2” is an intermediate 6-week program with 45 minute workouts 3 times a week.

Jermaine Johnson’s “Pure Pump 2” program description is:

“A 6 week Strength Program using heavy weights and aimed at building muscular power, taking your strength to a new level. Designed to be repeated.”

Taking the “Pure Pump 2” program as designed will use the following gym equipment: dumbbells, barbell, trap bar, bench, EZ bar, lat pulldown cable machine, and leg press machine. As always with the Strength+ app, if you do not have access to a certain piece of gym equipment, you can swap an exercise out for something comparable.

JJ shared a bit more about his program, saying:

“This 6 week program is built to challenge every muscle group and take your lifting to the next level. From week 1 to 3, we’re dialing in on push, pull, squat and hinge, and some accessory moves to tie it all together. You’ll focus on strength and control, but most importantly refining your technique.

Then in weeks 4 to 6 we’ll ramp up the intensity, adding new moves, more reps, and more sets, pushing your limits even further.”

Pure Pump 2 is a much more in-depth program than his first. The first “Pure Pump” program was a 2-week program that specifically promoted that no barbell was required.

The suggested program schedule for “Pure Pump 2” is workouts on days 1, 3, and 5 each week, and recovery on the remaining days. The workout type for each of the workouts is the same week over week.

Weeks 1 – 6

  • Workout 1: Pull (45 minutes)
  • Workout 2: Push (45 minutes)
  • Workout 3: Squat & Hinge (45 minutes)

There are now 17 dedicated Strength+ programs. As a reminder, at time of publishing, the Peloton Strength+ app is currently only available for iOS users who live in the US. Peloton has not yet expanded it to other countries or to Android.
