Peloton has quietly made some small changes to their ongoing Mother’s Day sale in the US & Canada, which first started on May 4th.
Update – Following the news Peloton issued a recall for the Peloton Bike and put it back for sale with an updated seat post, Peloton has now put the original bike back for sale as part of Mother’s Day
The biggest change is that Peloton is now offering a $400 discount on the refurbished Peloton Bike+ (affiliate link). This brings the price of a refurbished Peloton Bike+ down to $1,595 from the original price of $1,995.
A new Peloton Bike+ typically costs $2,495, making a refurbished Bike+ currently $900 cheaper than a new one. Of course, with the Mother’s Day sale, you are able to purchase a Bike+ starter package for $2,295, so the current sale is $700 cheaper than the newest available Bike+.
In addition, Peloton has quietly removed the original Peloton Bike from the Mother’s Day sale. The refurbished original Bike was available for sale at $995, and all original Bike packages were available for $400 off. Now, the $400 off is no longer available on any of the original Peloton Bike packages (note that the $400 off is still available on Bike+ packages though).
Besides simply removing the original Peloton Bike from having a discount available, the refurbished original Peloton Bike is no longer being offered for purchase at all. It’s not clear if the option to buy a refurbished original Peloton Bike will come back as soon as the sale is over or not.
With this sale pricing, this means that the cheapest options for buying any type of Peloton Bike are to buy a new original Peloton Bike for $1,445, or to buy a refurbished Peloton Bike+ for $1,595. Said another way – currently, you can buy a refurbished Peloton Bike+ for only $150 more than a new original Peloton Bike.
However, before this change was made to the sale, you could have bought an original Peloton Bike starter package for $1,245 since it had a $400 discount available.
Along with removing the refurbished original Peloton Bike for sale, Peloton has also temporarily removed the original Peloton Bike from being available to rent through the Peloton Bike rental program. You are still able to rent the Peloton Bike+
Peloton has not shared what the reason for these changes are.
Note that these changes only appear to be for the sales in the US & Canada. Germany, Australia, and the United Kingdom all have similar sales taking place – but those do not appear to have been updated.
