Peloton has recently added numerous small but useful features to the Peloton Guide device.
First is the ability to search for classes on the Peloton Guide. Up until now the Guide has not had any kind of search function; members had to filter or browse to locate classes.
Peloton recently added a search bar so that members can use keywords to search for specific classes. This feature has long been available on all other Peloton platforms, but has not made its way to the Guide until now.
Members will see a magnifying glass icon at the top of the left side menu. Members can search for instructors, class types, or muscle groups, and can utilize the keyboard or voice activation.
In addition, Peloton has made an update to the virtual weight rack feature so that it automatically maintains weight changes within a movement in a workout. Previously, if members altered the suggested weight for a movement, they would have to manually change the weight again for later sets. However, the feature now recalls that weight change and updates it for the rest of the workout.
If you’re a Guide owner and you have done this recently, you may have noticed an alert that the weight change would be applied to subsequent rounds of the movement. This means that members will no longer have to manually make the weight change each time within that specific workout.
In another minor update, the heart rate metric has now been moved to the bottom of the Guide. It was previously located on the right side of the screen.
Unfortunately one issue previously identified with the Guide remains unchanged. Earlier this year Peloton Guide users stopped being able to join live classes early for the pre-show – the 2-3 minutes before the class officially starts being recorded for the on-demand library. This bug remains, and Guide users are unable to join live classes until their exact start time.
Thanks to Jeff Hysen (#bmfc1) for the heads up and images for some of the features in this article.
