Peloton Adds Return Fees to Home Trial Program in the U.S. (Previously, Returns were Free)

Peloton has updated its Home Trial program in the United States to include return fees, marking a shift from the previous policy, in which returns were completely free within the first 30 days.

The Home Trial program allows customers to try Peloton hardware devices – such as the Bike/Bike+, Tread/Tread+, and Row – at home for up to 30 days before making a full and permanent commitment to the platform.

Previously, if members decided the product was not right for them within those initial 30 days, Peloton would pick it up at no cost and issue a full refund. Moving forward, however, Peloton will deduct a non-refundable return fee from refunds when products are sent back within that trial window.

The return fees vary by product and are outlined below:

  • Bike: $150
  • Bike+: $150
  • Tread: $250
  • Tread+: $250
  • Row: $250

Peloton has updated the official Home Trial terms to reflect the change. Currently, the new fees apply only in the U.S.

This update follows Peloton’s recent addition of expert assembly fees for certain products. Notably, those assembly fees are non-refundable, meaning that customers who return a product may lose both the assembly fee and the new return fee.

The changes come as Peloton continues to look for ways to balance costs and pricing. Leadership recently shared that the company would begin making adjustments to reflect true expenses, hinting at both hardware and membership price changes in the future. Hardware updates may arrive alongside Peloton’s expected fall product refresh, while membership pricing changes are expected at a later date – potentially January 1, 2026 as analysts recently predicted.

We will continue to share updates on all of Peoton’s pricing and fee changes as adjustments are made.
