Peloton instructor Emma Lovewell recently revealed that members can look forward to prenatal core classes from her in the near future. She shared the news via a series of videos posted to her Instagram Story.
She started the post by discussing potential pregnancy modifications for rides, and mentioned that she has also been asked by members whether she will teach any prenatal core content. Note that Emma already has numerous postnatal classes available – all core classes designed to help heal Diastasis Recti (the separation in the abdomen that occurs during pregnancy). Prenatal classes would be a first for Emma.
Emma confirmed that she will be offering new classes that include all pregnancy-safe moves; she did not share an exact release timeline, but encouraged members to be on the lookout.
Emma also shared that she is currently going through a recertification process for pre- and postnatal fitness. She was first certified back in 2018, but is doing an updated course because it feels “timely and relevant.”
She also gave advice to members, who were asking what type of exercises to avoid during pregnancy. She said:
In general avoid crunches and twisting. As your belly grows your abs will naturally separate (diastasis recti) but crunches and twisting will make that separation worse. Also when your belly is bigger, lying on your back can be an issue be you can limit the blood flow in your vena cava artery (which sends blood to your baby) and can cause dizziness. So in general stay off your back for too long.
Peloton has been building up their library of prenatal & postnatal classes over the years. You can find an exhaustive list of Peloton prenatal classes and postnatal classes via our guides.
Emma first announced her pregnancy in late February. We will share details regarding her upcoming prenatal core classes (and new postnatal classes as well in the future?) as new information becomes available.
