Peloton Instructor Ally Love Named to JPMorganChase Athlete Council

Ally Love is adding another role to her resume. Ally was recently named a member of the newly launched JPMorganChase Athlete Council, a group designed to help shape financial education and wealth-building resources for athletes at every stage of their careers.

The announcement was made by JPMorganChase as part of a broader initiative aimed at addressing the unique financial challenges athletes face – from their earliest earning years through retirement. According to the company, the council will bring together “some of the world’s most accomplished sports figures” to advise on programming and share firsthand experiences to better support fellow athletes.

The Athlete Council is chaired by Dwyane Wade and includes a lineup of well-known names across sports, including Tom Brady, Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Jalen Brunson, Sue Bird, A’ja Wilson, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

In their press release, JPMorganChase highlighted why this type of initiative is needed, noting that athletic careers are often short and unpredictable.

The company shared that fewer than 2% of NCAA athletes go on to turn professional, most pros retire before age 35, and roughly one in six NFL players faces bankruptcy within 12 years of retiring. At the same time, nearly 65% of athletes report never receiving financial education in school. The council is intended to play a key role in developing resources tailored specifically to athletes, including educational programming, outreach at universities and sporting events, and a dedicated content hub for financial guidance.

In a recent interview Ally spoke about her own experiences navigating finances as her career grew. According to the article:

Peloton Instructor Ally Love said she often felt embarrassed or scared to ask for financial advice, even after she found success with Peloton. She remembered one of her first meetings with a bank where her interactions with financial advisers left her with more questions than answers.
“I was like, ‘Who’s Roy?’ I thought Roy was spelled with a Y,” Love said in an interview with The Associated Press. Only later did Love learn that “Roy” was not a person, but an abbreviation for return on investment, or ROI.

Ally also acknowledged that for years she felt hesitant to ask questions in financial settings, adding that she would often go along with conversations without fully understanding them. That experience is part of what makes this initiative particularly meaningful for her, as it aims to create more accessible and empowering financial education for athletes.

The broader program is intended to reach athletes across all levels – not just top earners – including college athletes benefiting from NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals and professionals preparing for early retirement. JPMorganChase emphasized that the goal is to provide guidance early and consistently, helping athletes build long-term financial stability.

Ally shared the news of her involvement on social media as well, expressing excitement to be included in the council. You can see the full post via Instagram.
