Peloton has teamed up with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) on a new community wellness initiative called “Community in Motion.”
The initiative, led by LISC and its local community partners, is bringing 75 Peloton Bikes to community spaces across Chicago, with Peloton supplying the equipment, content, and some instructor programming. The first location is now up and running.
Peloton describes its involvement as a new pillar of its social impact work, aimed at placing Peloton equipment and instructor-led programming into under-resourced communities. Peloton and LISC have been working together since 2021, and this initiative grew out of that partnership.
The first activation launched at the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC) Healthy Lifestyle Hub on Chicago’s South Side. The hub, run by GAGDC, is now home to 15 Peloton Bike+ units, part of the broader 75-bike rollout across the Chicago region. The launch event included a ribbon cutting, equipment tutorials, cooking demos, and a wellness session led by Peloton instructor Nico Sarani.
According to Peloton, the bikes are meant to be available for community members to use year-round during regular facility operating hours, not just during scheduled programming. The partners have also committed to ongoing wellness programming, including curated group rides, wellness workshops, and seasonal health challenges.
Nico Sarani, who led the wellness session at the launch, posted about the event on Instagram:
“Very happy I got to be part of the first Community in Motion event last week in Chicago. Honored I got to teach such a lovely group of people who I could move, breathe, and laugh with… These days, as the whole world seems to be in survival mode, it really warms my heart seeing people support each other. It’s what we need. Don’t forget: when we look after one another we also look after ourselves.”

In an interview with the Citizen, a Chicago newspaper, Peloton said its instructors will continue to play a role in the initiative’s programming going forward, and encouraged community members to follow Peloton and its local partners on social media for announcements about future appearances and sessions.
LISC says more activations with its partners will be announced soon. For more information on the GAGDC Healthy Lifestyle Hub, the location is at 839 W. 79th Street in Chicago.
