Peloton x Garmin Connect Integration (First Look)

Over the past few days, some Peloton members have received access to a new third party integration – this time with Garmin (through Garmin Connect). We’ll share a brief first look at this new feature in advance of a closer look once it is more widely available.

This feature officially launched on October 1st, as part of the Peloton IQ launch.

Update – In March 2026, the feature was updated to be a two way sync, allowing Peloton workouts to be exported to Garmin Connect as well.

This will allow Peloton members to have new workouts they record on a Garmin device to automatically show up on their Peloton profile & history.

Unfortunately, at this time, this is a one way sync only. The new integration does not enable importing Peloton workouts into Garmin Connect. It currently only supports having Garmin Connect workouts show up in Peloton. There is no word yet on whether, or when, it might be expanded to be a two way sync, to also enable pushing Peloton workouts into Garmin Connect.

At this time, this also doesn’t appear to be a full rollout to the entire Peloton community. Only a small group of members received access to this – and for many of them, it disappeared a few days later. This means it was likely a small public beta (with the group being randomly selected) ahead of a larger launch for everyone. Update – This feature rolled out to everyone on October 1st.

To enable the Garmin Connect x Peloton integration, members will navigate to the “You” tab (bottom right option) in the Peloton app. From there, use the “More” / Hamburger Menu option at the top right of the screen. It will appear in the “Add Ons” section of this page listed as “Garmin Connect” for those who have access. This is the same area Health App, Apple Watch, Outdoor Route Tracking, Peloton Heart Rate Band, and others are listed.

From there, people will then login to their Garmin Connect accounts.

At this point, users will be prompted to set up the integration – and verify what activity types they want to sync from Garmin to import into Peloton. This will allow people to fine tune what workout types they want showing up in Peloton. Users can pick between dozens of regular Garmin Connect activity types – “Indoor Running”, “Outdoor Running”, “Indoor Cycling”, “Outdoor Cycling”, “Yoga”, “Hiking”, and even broader Garmin activities like swimming – and many more.

There have been reports that even if people enable other categories, such as Swimming, those will not sync over into Peloton. So although a wider range of categories can be selected, it appears at this time that only those that have direct mappings of Peloton categories will show up in Peloton’s history.

On the settings page in Peloton, people can also quickly toggle the automatic sync off if they no longer want the Garmin workouts automatically importing into Peloton.

Once enabled – any workouts someone records with a Garmin (in one of the categories they enabled the sync for) will then show up automatically in their Peloton history. These workouts will look just like any regular “Just Run” or”Just Ride” workouts in the history – except rather than show “Tread” or “App”, it wills show the icon for Garmin Connect.

When viewing the details of that workout it will look identical to if someone had recorded it with Peloton. The summary details are shown at the top, followed by graphs of data. If a heart rate monitor was used, there will be graphs and data for heart rate. It will also display a route map using the GPS data from Garmin as well. The usual graphs for speed, pace, cadence, and others will show up as well.

An important thing to note is that these workouts that are imported from Garmin don’t count towards streaks, milestones, and some challenges. As Peloton phrases it – “Please note that imported third-party workouts do not count towards streaks, Peloton badges or milestones, or certain challenges. ” This means that if you are trying to keep your blue-dot daily streak, or weekly streaks – these workouts will not count towards that. [Note – this article originally stated that Garmin workouts did count towards these items, however, on official full rollout, Peloton updated that piece and no longer counted them towards milestones & streaks. This article was updated appropriately].

If members take a Peloton workout on their phone, while also recording the workout on their Garmin device at the same time – they will end up with two different activities showing up in their history. They will then have to delete one or the other, if they want their workout history to be “correct.” This integration is more targeted for people who only record their activities on their Garmin – not while also listening to Peloton classes at the same time.

Since the sync is one way, not much will change in the Garmin Connect app. However, under the “Connected Apps” section of the Account section in Garmin Connect, there should be a section for Peloton after the integration has been set up. This will also allow for disconnecting the integration from the Garmin side if people choose to do so in the future.

There has been no word from Peloton yet on when this new feature should be available for everyone.

Peloton executives have recently talked about how they want to enable new third party integrations to add more sleep & recovery data into Peloton – and this new Garmin Connect integration may help to start facilitate that. With more data, Peloton plans to use AI to use that data to “recommend better workouts for them.”

That viewpoint and goal might explain why this new integration will only allow importing Garmin workouts into Peloton – and not the other way around. There is always the chance that a future update to the integration will open up the capabilities more and allow a two way sync.

In the meantime, there are many third party options that should continue to allow syncing Peloton workouts to Garmin, such as RunGap, SyncMyWorkout, Peloton to Garmin, and others.

We first reported this Peloton x Garmin Connect sync feature was being worked on back in June.

This is amazing, I hate running/biking with my phone open and the Peloton app running so that I can get credit.

It’s about freakin’ time. Been waiting for this feature for 5 years now. Amazing how long it took Peloton to work on this. My other thought is if they want to be more competitive with platforms like iFit, Peloton should produce more activities like mountain bike rides. Some of us die hard Pelo Buddies are not road cyclists at all and strictly ride MTB outside. Simulating rising dirt would target a forgotten segment of the Peloton user base. My friend bought iFit over Peloton for this feature alone. And lastly, when is Peloton going to simulate elevation gain on rides based on resistance and power output? C’mon, let’s go! I want Peloton, it’s stick and future to thrive! Adjust your platform budgets away from tea time with Cody and invest in attracting more die hard MTB folks!

Good to see this. With a third party connection (and some tech skills) you can sync peloton to Garmin. I use Garmin as my source of truth but would be nice if Peloton also showed all my Garmin activities there.

It looks like this is live as a feature now! Thanks for keeping us aware it was coming!

Here’s what I don’t like about this integration and was really excited that finally they were going to import Garmin but then they have this caveat:

Please note that imported third-party workouts do not count towards streaks*,* Peloton badges or milestones*, or certain* challenges*.*

I guess because they worry that someone will cheat the system….
