Peloton has quietly discontinued the sale of its general gift cards that could be used toward hardware devices and membership purchases.
First introduced in 2023, these gift cards allowed customers to apply the balance toward a wide range of Peloton products, including the Peloton Bike, Bike+, Tread, Row, Guide, certain accessories, and even monthly membership fees sold by Peloton.
However, as of this week, Peloton communicated the following notice:
“Peloton will no longer be issuing eGift Cards for any purchase of non-apparel item(s), including Peloton Hardware such as the Peloton Bike, Bike+, Tread, Row, and Guide, accessories, and a Peloton Membership.”
While existing gift cards that were purchased before this week will remain valid and can still be used on eligible purchases, new cards are no longer available for purchase. Peloton has not provided a reason for this change.
Since existing giftcards will remain active, the page for applying a gift cards towards your own monthly membership is still available.
Gift cards for Peloton Apparel are still available and can be purchased through the Peloton Apparel website. These cards are limited to use on clothing and accessory purchases and do not apply to equipment or memberships.
It remains to be seen whether the removal of these gift cards is a temporary decision or a permanent policy change.
For anyone who might have been considering getting someone a gift card towards a Peloton device – there are other workarounds. Since many Peloton devices are sold on Amazon (you can see a list here on Amazon at this affiliate link) – you could get someone an Amazon gift card, which they could then use to purchase the device through Amazon rather than Peloton. Of course, Amazon does not have every device (the Tread+ is not sold thorugh there), and pricing, delivery times, and what zipcodes they ship to could vary.
