Peloton Strength+ app adds “personalized weight recommendations” feature to tell you when to increase weights

Peloton has launched a new feature in the Strength+ app designed to help members make smarter, more effective gains with their lifting routines.

The Peloton Strength+ app will now provide personalized weight recommendations, analyzing a user’s workout history to suggest when it might be time to increase the weight.

Peloton introduced this new feature with version 1.11.0 of the iOS app, stating in the release notes:

Personalized weight recommendations are here! Based on your past workouts, we’ll now suggest when you might be ready to level up and lift heavier. Tap in to see your history at any time—and be sure to keep logging your weights with every workout to get the best results.

Once enabled, this feature gives users real-time prompts based on the data they have already logged in previous sets. The app will suggest whether to stick with a current weight or go heavier depending on performance trends. If a member has been consistently lifting in the same range or steadily increasing reps across multiple sessions, the app will recommend an increase.

Members will see an in-class prompt and will have a choice whether to “accept” or defer the adjustment.

In both the in-app alerts and emails surrounding this new feature, Peloton emphasizes that this is guidance, not a mandate. Members are encouraged to go lighter if needed, especially for warmups or if they are experiencing pain or discomfort.

To take full advantage of this tool, members will need to ensure they have Personalized Experience enabled in their settings and keep logging their weights consistently.

The feature is part of Peloton’s ongoing efforts to deliver a more tailored training experience. Another recent update in this area is the expansion of Peloton’s Personalized Plans feature, which helps users stay on track with structured, goal-oriented weekly training schedules tailored to their preferences and progress.

In 2024 Peloton unveiled their new Strength+ app after a three month beta phase. The app is entirely separate from the existing Peloton digital app and is free for All-Access and App+ members. You can find a comprehensive overview of the new offering from Peloton via our overview article.

At this time, the Peloton Strength+ app is still only available to iOS users in the United States. Peloton has not shared when it will expand to other countries, or to Android.

If you utilize Peloton’s Strength+ app, do you plan to take advantage of the new personalized weight recommendations feature?
