Peloton Members Crowdsource to Support Those Affected by Natural Disasters Like LA Fires, NC floods & more

Community is one of the core pillars of the Peloton platform, and many members have recently taken that sentiment to heart by supporting those who have been affected by natural disasters.

One particular group, the “Peloton Boutique Buy/Sell/Trade” Facebook group, has recently introduced a compassionate initiative aimed at helping those who have experienced loss over the past year.

In a heartfelt message shared by the group admins, they outlined their goal: to connect members who have lost workout apparel or comfort items due to natural disasters with others willing to donate. The message from admin Heidi Neff read:

“As admins we would like to do what we can to help with all the destruction. Mel J. Bam had a great idea about a thread that people can post on if they were affected by any natural disasters in the past year and are looking for stuff apparel wise. We know this might sound superficial but having a familiar workout outfit or comfort can help. If you have lost items please post your sizes. If anyone has anything to donate please reach out to that person. This is not a sale thread. The shipping cost will be on the person donating so no money will be exchanged. Also if anyone knows of a member affected, we understand that facebook might not be something they are looking at. I love that so many people are willing to help. Thank you everyone.”

In addition to the group-specific post, they also shared the message in the Official Peloton Member Facebook page.

The response has been overwhelming, with group members offering up a range of items. Donors are covering shipping costs to ensure there is no financial burden on recipients.

Since the original post, the admins have shared updates on how those in need can reach out. People can make their own post in the group for what sizes they are looking for, reply to comments others have posted, or message members directly. Those who wish to remain anonymous can make anonymous posts or message one of the admins to have their message relayed.

The Boutique group has also linked up with the admins of the #SoCal Peloton member group, to try to connect directly with a group directly impacted.

This grassroots initiative aligns with Peloton’s recent philanthropic actions. In case you missed it, the company recently announced a donation of apparel to relief organizations, and a dollar to dollar company match of any employee donations towards the fire relief efforts.

In addition, Peloton Studios New York (PSNY) has been designated as a drop-off location for relief items by Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment, a prominent sports and entertainment company. PSNY is serving as a drop-off location for an essentials drive and individuals can bring donation supplies to the building on Thursday between 2-6pm ET, and on Friday between 7am-6pm ET.
