Peloton is starting to expand their beta testing of what they are calling their “Cycling Experience”, which appears to be Peloton’s answer to Zwift.
In a since deleted post in the Official Peloton Member page, one member shared a screenshot of an email from Peloton inviting them to apply to be part of “Peloton’s Cycling Experience (beta)”. They had questions on whether it was a legitimate email – and Peloton posted a comment on the post confirming it did come from Peloton.
Peloton has previously publicly shared they would be beta testing a “immersive, gaming-inspired cycling” experience. We later reported that this appears to be Peloton’s version of Zwift.
In a recent conversation with investors, Peloton executives stated that they had around 100 people beta testing this new game. This statement was prior to Peloton emailing and inviting more people to apply, so that number appears to be growing. The exact number of people who will be included in this new round of beta testing has not yet been revealed.
The email for this invite did go on to mention that a Bike+ would be required to take part in this beta test for Peloton’s Cycling Experience (of Peloton’s version of Zwift).
We also got a possible sneak peek on what the graphics for this new game could look like. During a Hackathon Demo Day, several of the games showed likely used the core engine and graphics from what Peloton’s Cycling Experience could look like – although the exact gameplay and gamification methods would have been changed for the demo games.

This same event contained a glimpse at what looked like a new Peloton Bike+ tablet created by the R&D team that contained a Peloton Guide built into the screen.
The email the member posted referenced that this beta test was part of Peloton’s Field Testing Community – which is Peloton’s beta testing program they started in 2020.
Peloton’s Cycling Experience (or Peloton’s Zwift competitor) was first announced along with two other beta programs. Those were the Strength+ app, which was recently released to all members (in the US with iPhones), as well as updates to the personalized training plans which have been rolling out to the Peloton app & devices.

Finally, thank God Peloton is doing this!
It’s taken a while hasn’t it. I’m sure it’s no easy feat, but I still think they would have been better off to work WITH Zwift years ago.
