How to Sign Up For the Waitlist for a Peloton Class in New York Or London Peloton Studios In Person Classes

If you’re ever attended – or attempted to attend – an in-person class at Peloton Studios, you may have seen or heard that it can be challenging to secure a spot in a class. Classes become available for booking ~35 days in advance at 12:00pm ET on Thursdays, and are typically sold out within a matter of minutes, if not seconds.

How Does The Peloton Waitlist Work For Classes

The way that many members have been able to get into in-person Peloton classes is by utilizing the Peloton waitlist. When a person with a confirmed spot cancels a class, that spot is then offered to someone on the waitlist – who can then book into the class.

This article will provide a comprehensive overview of how to sign up for a waitlist at Peloton Studios New York (PSNY) and Peloton Studios London (PSL), and what to expect as you navigate that process.

Note that many examples here will reference New York, but the process and system is currently the same for Peloton classes in London as well.

How To Book A Waitlist Spot for a Peloton Class in NY or London

First, you can find the signup page for the Peloton waitlist here: https://studio.onepeloton.com/. There is not a separate site for booking the waitlist; in fact, it is the same exact button that you would use to actually register for a class.

Each class on the upcoming schedule has a red rectangular button on the right-hand side. This button will say one of three things: “Book,” “Join Waitlist,” and “Full.” “Book” means that the class has spots open and you can register immediately for a confirmed spot. “Join Waitlist” means that the class is full, but there are waitlist spots available and you can add yourself to the list and hope a spot opens over the coming weeks. “Full” means that the class is completely full with a full waitlist as well – and you can not sign up for anything at the moment for that class.

This means that even waitlists are not always available to book, as waitlists for Peloton classes fill up as well. You can only be added to the waitlist for an upcoming class if the “Join Waitlist” button appears next to the class slot. If the button says “Full,” there are no waitlist spots available (or any confirmed spots either).

When Do Waitlist Spots Open Up For Peloton Classes

Waitlist spots can open up at any moment – you just have to be lucky and be looking at the site when this happens to get one. With that said, some patterns have appeared over time.

There is typically a lot of movement on the studio booking site after the classes become available and are fully booked. Members who previously booked a class may cancel, and Peloton also holds a certain number of spots in classes as “house” seats in case they have VIP attendees such as an instructor’s family member/friend.

As the date of the class gets closer, there may be an opportunity to secure a spot on the waitlist for a class – and then get into the class as more people cancel or Peloton frees up more spots.

Members have reported a particularly high success rate getting onto waitlists for classes the week that classes will be taking this place – although spots can open up at any point from the moment classes go onsale.

In particular, usually on the Monday or Tuesday before a class, many Peloton classes have waitlist spots open up. This seems to be when Peloton goes through and frees up some of those “house” holds that had been held back for VIP guests. Members who had previously been on the waitlist get moved to confirmed spots – then freeing up more waitlist spots for people to book.

In addition, later in the week leading up to classes you’ll also start to randomly see spots open up. This is due to Peloton’s 24 hour cancellation requirement – i.e. you must cancel your reservation for a class at least 24 hours in advance to get your credit back. Therefore, there is typically more movement in the immediate days leading up to the class. If you are interested in attending an in-person class, it is best to frequently check the studio booking site as the waitlist can potentially open up at any moment.

How Do I Find Out I Got Off the Waitlist For A Peloton Class?

If a waitlist spot does open up and you are able to add your name, you will receive an immediate confirmation email from Peloton indicating that you are now on the waitlist.

The email will explain the process from there: if a spot in the class opens up, you will receive an email from Peloton and you will have two hours to claim the spot. The email will provide the link you need to use to claim your class.

Payment is not required at the time of booking a waitlist spot – you will make payment for the class as part of the process of claiming a spot if it is offered to you.

If you do not claim your spot within that time frame – assuming it is not during the overnight timeout period – you will lose your spot on the waitlist and Peloton will move on to the next person on the waitlist. You will then no longer be on the waitlist.

Peloton Waitlist Chances: What Are My Chances of Getting Off the Waitlist of a Peloton Class?

While Peloton doesn’t officially share data on this, it seems like almost every single class that takes place has at least one or more person who gets into the class from the waitlist. As mentioned above – this is due to both people canceling the class last minute, as well as Peloton not needing spaces it had saved for VIP guests.

Your best chances for the Peloton waitlist is for a cycling class. Your second best chance is a running or walking class. This is because the cycling studio has the most number of spaces available in NY (nearly 40), while the Tread studio has 16 spaces. The strength/rowing studio has 8 spots available for members, while the yoga studio has 7 spaces.

It is believed that although each of the studios have a vastly different number of spaces available – the amount of people allowed on the Peloton waitlist is the same for each class type: around 10. This means around 10 people are waiting for one of 7 spots to open up for yoga – while you have around 10 people waiting for one of nearly 40 spots to open up for a Peloton cycling class.

Another Option: Standby For Classes at Peloton Studios

If you are unable to get into a class through the waitlist (whether you can just never get on the waitlist, or you were not offered a confirmed spot off the waitlist), there is still the option of doing standby. This is when you arrive at the studio on the day of the class (typically 60-90 minutes before), check in with the front desk, and wait to see if a spot opens up at the last minute. This can happen due to last-minute no shows, and it is possible to get into a class at a moment’s notice. As of July 2024, members do not even need to be on the waitlist in order to be added to the standby list.

In other words, if you are attempting to book an in-person class at Peloton Studios but are unsuccessful when the bookings initially become available – do not lose hope. Though not guaranteed, it is still possible to gain entry to a class through waitlists in the weeks and days leading up to the class; and if all else fails, standby is a “hail Mary” option as well.

Changes to Peloton Waitlist Process

It is important to note that Peloton periodically makes changes – both big and small – to the studio booking process. In December of 2023 Peloton migrated to a new studio booking system. As part of this, they announced a new waitlist process: waitlist classes would now count towards members’ weekly in-person studio limit of four classes; and waitlist spots would no longer be automatically converted when a spot opens up. Members will have to claim the newly opened spot within two hours. Earlier this year they implemented a timeout period for their new waitlist system so that members didn’t need to claim spots overnight.

In case you missed it, we recently shared that Peloton made an update to their standby process – opening it up to people who weren’t even on the waitlist. You can find all the details in our overview article.
