New Peloton Walking Meditation classes released (now tracks distance)

Peloton has released a new batch of their “Walking Meditation” classes.

Walking Meditation classes are a relatively new class type for Peloton – having first been released in October 2023.

Update – A few day after being released, these classes were changed from “Outdoor” to “Meditation” – and some members report that the mileage is not tracking for them at this time anymore.

Since that first batch of classes was released in October, there have only been a handful of new classes added since then.

This week, Peloton released a new set of 5 walking meditation classes – including one from recently departed instructor Ross Rayburn. Note that you will find these new classes in the “Outdoor” section of the Peloton app, rather than the “Meditation” section.

When the class type was first made available – walking meditation classes did not track your distance, even though they were designed as walks to be done outdoors (or on your Tread).

However, in the past few months, Peloton has made some updates to this – and now your the Peloton app will track your mileage as you take Peloton’s Walking Meditation classes. This includes creating the GPS route for your activity as well, if you have that feature enabled.

Peloton described the walking meditations when they launched as “Walking meditation is the practice of creating equilibrium in body and mind. Step-by-step, learn to focus on your surroundings and stay present as you mindfully move.”

There was previously a special Walking Meditations collections on Peloton you could easily find all the classes in, but at time of publishing, that collection appears to no longer exist.
