Peloton has renamed one of their staple monthly challenges. Moving forward, the “Running” challenge will be called the “Running and Walking Challenge.”

This change has already been made for the month of July, and will continue to be reflected moving forward.
However, walking classes and miles have counted towards the running challenge for quite some time; Peloton is simply updating the name and description for the challenge to make more clear that walking is included.
The official challenge description for the month of July reads:
When we move together, we can go further than we ever thought possible. No matter what medal you’re going for this month, all Running and Walking workouts count towards your badge.
This is a change from June’s Running challenge description, which stated:
No matter your fitness level, we can always go further when we do it together. All Tread workouts count, so time to dig deep and find those extra few miles to push towards that next badge.
In other words, Peloton is more intentionally integrating the word “walking” into the challenge title and description to ensure members know which workouts are being tracked towards their goal. As with previous iterations, walking/running 10 miles will earn you a bronze badge; 25 miles will earn a silver badge; and 40 miles will earn a gold badge.
In addition to running and walking, Peloton’s standard challenges are offered each month for activity (days active on the Peloton platform), cycling, strength, meditation, and yoga. The challenges track certain metrics – such as days active, miles cycled or run/walked, or number of classes completed in a specific modality – and award a corresponding badge depending upon the outcome. Meditation and yoga are both recent additions to the monthly challenge line-up, having only been added within the past few months.
You can opt into the July Running and Walking challenge today via your hardware device, app, or web browser. Did you know that walks count towards the monthly Peloton running challenge?
