Peloton Studios London (PSL) recently hosted its very first Live DJ ride in studio with Peloton instructor Ben Alldis. This came as part of the Peloton x Defected Records partnership that was announced earlier this year. At the time they said there would be six cycling classes, and three live DJ rides.
Ben Alldis (a former DJ himself before starting at Peloton) was joined in studios by Defected Records DJ Ferreck Dawn. This class is from June 21, 2024 @ 1:30pm ET and be found here.
Given this was a “first” for Peloton Studios London, the production team made quite a few enhancements for this class.

Additional lights were added around the perimeter of the studio. On the bike platform they added 4 lights that swayed, changed colors, and pulsed along to the music just as if you were at an underground house party. Overhead lights projected graphics onto the “dance floor” as you groove through your ride.
The class begins with Ben not on the bike. He walks in from the back of the room and introduces DJ Ferreck Dawn – before continuing up to the bike to give the rest of the normal intro.
During the ride itself, Ben’s ability to find bangers and encourage his riders to let loose and have fun is paired with his ability to keep the class in line with climbs and sprints. Leanne Hainsby also was in the studio for this class – and dances along side with members on the bike.
The production team has some new camera angles for London – including being able to see the DJ’s turntables from an aerial perspective. This allows you to see DJ Dawn’s work behind the music that you are listening to and see how it is being created. From this perspective you become part of not only the dance floor, but the DJ booth as well during this class.

Like the recent Lil Jon appearance during Alex Toussaint’s ride, the class also incorporates some footage from a steadycam. The camera is walked around the studio, providing some unique angles & looks not normally seeing in Peloton classes.
Throughout the ride the tempo is felt through the beat of the music being played just like it is at a house party. When the lights come on at the end of the ride you leave with the feelings of euphoria and exhaustion, just as you would after a night at the club.
The extra lighting and production helped attribute to an extra feeling of energy during this ride. Peloton member #Stellathediver, who attended the ride live in studio shared that:
Ben’s Defected Records Live DJ ride was such a cool experience! I’ve been lucky to have done a few rides before at PSL but with the camera work and special effects, this felt very different, and it was of course brilliant to watch Ferreck mixing his music right there with us. The lighting especially was amazing. The ride just flew by, it was so much fun.

So far, there have been there have been three other Defected theme rides on the Peloton platform prior to Ben’s Live DJ Ride:
- Hannah Frankson 30 min House Ride 5/10/24 @ 1:30pm ET
- Leanne Hainsby-Alldis 30 min House Ride 3/21/24 @ 2pm ET
- Ben Alldis 30 min NYE Ride: Defected Records 12/30/23 @ 5pm ET

In addition, a teaser video says that Live DJ rides with Leanne Hainsby & Hannah Frankson are coming soon as well. From the video, it appears that those two Live DJ rides were pre-recorded (with members in studio) – so those Live DJ rides might drop as premiere or on-demand classes.
Will you be taking this Live DJ ride or either of the other two coming up?
