Peloton Metrics Classes Are Back + More Featured Classes

Peloton has highlighted recent and upcoming classes – including a “new” class type – via the weekly “This Week at Peloton” Instagram post covering April 1-7, 2024.

First, Peloton has announced what they are referring to as a “new class type” in Metrics classes. The caveat here is that Peloton previously had Metrics rides available until around 2018, but they phased out the class type early that year. There are some small differences between the old & new classes – namely that the old classes would have some storytelling in them, while still focusing on the metrics & coaching.

They are now bringing Metrics classes back and expanding the format to numerous modalities.

The announcement describes Peloton’s Metrics classes in the following way:

Let the music do the talking in these new rides, runs, walks & rows. Follow a great class plan and expect cueing – no chit chat, no shout outs. On Demand now.

Numerous classes were released straight to the on-demand library on April 1 at 11:00am ET (this was not an April Fool’s joke though). As of publishing time there are seven new classes available, each with a different instructor, including two classes in German. The modalities covered are cycling, runs, walks, and rows. You can see the complete list of newly released Metrics classes below:

Each class description is similar; Tunde’s class, for example, states:

Focus on the Ride in this workout forward class where the music does most of the talking. Zone out of the noise and into the roadmap with Tunde who will guide you through sweaty efforts that will leave you feeling accomplished.

These classes are catered toward members who are looking for a numbers and performance-based workout with minimal talking from the coach. Any speaking will be focused on metric cues such as resistance, cadence, incline, etc. depending upon the specific modality. Ultimately, the focus of Metrics classes is on the roadmap and the workout itself, with no anecdotes or “chit chat” from the instructors, and no shout-outs for milestones or birthdays.

Note that there are currently no Metrics classes listed on the upcoming live schedule, indicating this class type might be reserved for pre-recorded on-demand drops.

Next, Peloton highlighted a new Deep House Yoga Flow with Anna Greenberg, which will take place live on Saturday, April 6 at 12:30pm ET with members in-person. Anna’s Deep House yoga flow classes typically include a playlist curated by DJ John Michael and incorporate movements and flows that match the rhythm and feeling of the music.

There will also be a new Evening Stretch with Matty Maggiacomo later this week. The 10 minute class will drop straight to the on-demand library on Friday, April 5 at 4:00pm ET.

Finally, Rebecca Kennedy will drop a new installment of her popular Standing Core classes on Thursday, April 4 at 10:00am ET. Standing Core is a core workout that takes place entirely in the standing position, focusing on balance and stability. Rebecca is the only instructor who teaches standing core, and Peloton has a dedicated collection containing all available classes if you’re interested.
