Peloton’s blink-182 artist series contained an exciting first, with a live musician performing during a class for the first time. blink-182 drummer Travis Barker joined Kendall Toole in her 10 minute blink-182 Shadowboxing Class, performing alongside her while she taught the class.

The class description reads:
With special guest Travis Barker! Get hooked with Kendall in a shadowboxing session fueled by the punchy, pop-punk hits of blink-182—and featuring a special drum performance by Barker, joining from his studio in California.

This indicates that the class was not filmed at Peloton Studios New York (PSNY), but at Travis Barker’s studio in California. The class cuts between Travis drumming and Kendall teaching from a small stage within the studio, presenting a very unique and different feel than most Peloton classes.
Travis joins the stretch at the end of the class.

When Kendall is teaching, you see Travis in the background drumming along.
There is also a special screen for both the opening and the closing of the class specifically for the collaboration.

We first shared that this artist series – and a special appearance by Travis Barker – was on the way earlier this week. As Peloton indicated to Billboard, this is the first class to feature a live musician. Note that Peloton has Live DJ classes Peloton has also featured artists in classes before, but this is the first class to include an actual live performance from a musician.

In addition, it is a rarity to have Peloton classes filmed outside of the studios. The blink-182 Shadowboxing class is somewhat reminiscent of Peloton’s “Our Future Selves” series from 2022, in which classes were filmed on location rather than at Peloton Studios.

While Travis was not live in studio during Kendall’s live Blink-182 ride, that class also had some unique production aspects.

Travis had pre-recorded some footage of him playing drums, and it was shown while Kendall was teaching.
In some moments, there were split screen images of both Kendall & Travis – while in other places, Travis was shown full screen on the bike.

Have you taken the blink-182 Shadowboxing with Kendall and Travis, (or the Kendall Toole Blink 182 cycling class) or will you be adding it to your upcoming stack?
