Peloton instructor Christine D’Ercole recently competed at the 2023 Masters Track World Championships in Manchester, England. She competed in five events and won a medal in each: three silver and two bronze!

Christine reflected upon the experience in a recent Instagram post:
BEING PRESENT
I made a decision not to post the last couple of days. While each individual race in the Match Sprint tournament is over in less than two minutes, managing one’s headspace and nutrition in between rounds is like you’re still actively racing.
To post on social requires a mindset focused on sharing an experience- what pictures or clips to choose, how to frame it, what to say, and how to say it…
As much as I wanted to share my process, I could not actually, fully BE IN the process if I was focused on how to share it.
Now that the competition is over I can share this:
I have never raced as hard or assertively as I did this past week.
I accomplished one thing that I set out to do and that was to go through the wall. In moments when I thought I had nothing left to give – I kept pedaling.
In moments when winning seemed hopeless, I continued to fight anyway.
This was the goal. And the result was that I got to stand on the podium in every race I competed in.
Three silver and two bronze!
I am over the moon – especially with the Match Sprints. Enjoy this first round of races. And watch for these to be incorporated into future #powerzone classes.

The 2023 Masters Track World Championships ran from September 30 through October 7 at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester, England. Christine’s first event was the 2K (kilometer) race, in which she earned a bronze medal.

Next Christine competed in the Women’s Scratch Race – meaning that all riders start together and the objective is to be the first across the finish line after a certain number of laps. Christine placed silver and shared her excitement via Instagram.

Christine’s third event was the 500 meter time trial, a sprint in which athletes race against the clock to record the fastest time over a specified distance. Christine earned another Bronze medal even though she has not competed in this particular event in years.
The next event was the points race, in which points are awarded during sprint intervals or by lapping the main group in a long distance race. Christine placed silver in this event.
Finally, Christine competed in the sprint race and earned her final silver medal.
Christine also recently competed in the USA Cycling National Championships back in August. She earned a number of medals there as well, and proudly displayed them in her 30 minute Power Zone Endurance Ride on August 23.

All of the results from the 2023 Masters Track World Championships can be viewed via the Union Cycliste Internationale website. Tremendous congratulations to Christine!
