Becs Gentry Great World Race (7 Marathons) Recap Class: 7 Continents Recap Run on Peloton

Becs Gentry has recorded a Peloton class recapping her experience at the Great World Race. This race took place last November, and saw Becs run 7 marathons, in 7 days, on all 7 continents – finishing second place.

Becs has recently been on several podcasts talking about the experience, but she has also now dedicated a full Peloton class to recapping the entire week, spending time talking about each day and race.

The class is the 60 min 7 Continents Recap Run.

An important note about this class – it is a “Guided Scenic” class – which means it is unfortunately only available to take on the Peloton Tread & Tread+. There is currently no option for those on the Peloton app to take it – the same restriction all scenic classes have. Perhaps one day Peloton can take the audio from the class and also make it available as an audio outdoor class.

Since it is a Guided Scenic class – that means that the class consists of Becs describing her experience while you look at scenic footage.

The class begins with a brief amount of footage from that Becs took herself, showing Becs and flying into Antartica. From there – the rest of the footage that you see in the class is generic/stock footage until you see the finish of the last marathon.

The class is set up so that as she is talking about the race – you are seeing stock footage from that country or continent. However, in many cases it is not from the area the race took place in – but rather another, nearby, scenic place in that country. The class is in chronological order of the race – she starts with the first marathon, goes on to the next, and so forth.

As a reminder, in the race, the locations Becs ran in were:

  • Marathon 1 – Wolf’s Fang, Antarctica
  • Marathon 2 – Cape Town, Africa
  • Marathon 3 – Perth, Australia
  • Marathon 4 – Istanbul, Europe
  • Marathon 5 – Istanbul, Asia
  • Marathon 6 – Cartagena, South America
  • Marathon 7 – Miami, North America

While most of the footage is in nearby areas, Becs did state that the footage you see in both Perth, Australia as well as Miami, Florida covers some of the exact course she ran on those days. The music played in the background is a mix of songs that Becs listened to while training and racing.

Throughout the course of the hour class, Becs describes various aspects of the races – including how her and some of her follow racers, who have now become friends, had decided on the second day to come to the finish line together in a show of unity – and various decisions they made in in the following days on whether to finish together or if someone was feeling strong to go ahead.

She also covered many of the logistics of getting between races. This included how one day they didn’t get back to the hotel until 3am, just to have to be awake at 7am the next morning for the next race – but on other days, they would finish the race to get immediately onto the plane for a 15 hour trip.

Becs also talked about some of the battles she, and her competitors, faced during the 7 marathons. For Becs, this incldued GI issues (which impacted most competitors at some point), as well as some foot pain that had begun for her in Race #5.

As the class got near the end, and the final day in Miami, Becs also talked about the impact her family had on her during this races (as well as allowing her to do the race thanks to an Aunt & Uncle), and the class ended with footage of her family, as well as her fellow Peloton instructors, seeing her cross the finish line.

If you own a Peloton Tread or Tread+, and want to hear first-hand from Becs about her experience running the Great World Race – you can find that in the 60 min 7 Continents Recap Run from Becs Gentry in the Scenic section.
