Peloton Group “Wicked Smaht Zone” Makes Headlines for Generous Act of Kindness

A Peloton Member group has made headlines in recent days for a generous act of kindness. The Wicked Smaht Zone group based out of Massachusetts left a nearly $7,200 tip for their servers after a group gathering in early 2024.

Earlier this month the group dined for breakfast at Red’s Kitchen and Tavern in Peabody. Though around 40 people attended in person, the Wicked Smaht Zone group contains approximately 2,300 members, many of whom contributed from afar even though they couldn’t join the event.

This allowed the group to leave a more than $7,000 tip for their servers Nicole Boiardi and Raisa Zan, who also reportedly shared the funds with their team members in the back of house.

The group (found here on Facebook) was founded by Josh Vernon, who shared some information with Good Morning America about the event:

Living by the mantra, the group started an annual gathering with a charitable twist where each year, members of the Wicked Smaht Zone would meet at a different restaurant for a meal and pool their money for a special tip for their servers.

He went on to share the inspiration behind the event:

…Discussing the inspiration behind the idea of the group’s kind deed, Vernon said, “I believe that when you have a platform, no matter how small or how big it is, you have the ability to do something good and more than just good — do wicked good.”

This is the third year the group has held this annual event. Josh spoke to Pelo Buddy about some of the logistics, and shared that each year he solicits the group for restaurant recommendations in a particular area of Massachusetts in an effort to visit different regions across the state every year, spreading kindness and generosity one Peloton group outing at a time.
