Peloton is teasing an upcoming marketing campaign (and challenge) with pro-football players TJ Watt & JJ Watt.
They are calling it “Watt v Watt” and it appears to be a campaign to showcase some brotherly rivalry between the two, while letting Peloton members follow along.
The Peloton “Watt v Watt” challenge is currently being teased as:
Get ready to join JJ and TJ Watt, pro-football players and Peloton Members, as they turn up the fun and keep their sibling rivalry alive with Peloton. Embrace the challenge, feel the push, and sweat it out in this powerhouse duo’s favorite classes. Let the games begin.
This was accompanied by a video highlighting the competitive nature between the two brothers.
This all started from a post in 2023, when JJ Watt shared that he was only 8th place in a Peloton ride.

He reshared the post this week, noting how this still haunted him.
TJ Watt then responded to his brother, saying “I bet it does” – sharing an image that appeared to show him finishing in 7th place in that same class – just ahead of his brother.

This exchange prompted Peloton to post an unofficial “OUTWATTED” challenge – seeing who in the community could top the Watt brother scores. They said
‼️ #OUTWATTED CHALLENGE ACCEPTED ‼️
@tjwatt90 has set the gauntlet…
-take any 20 minute Peloton ride, gunning as hard as you can to beat the Watt Bros’ output 💥
-screenshot the results and share to social with the hashtag #OutWatted, we’ll be on the lookout 👀

The exact scores to beat are 561 output (T.J. Watt’s output) and 553 output (J.J. Watt’s output). Members can select any 20 minute cycling class, attempt to beat those output numbers, and share a screenshot of the result to social media with the hashtag #OutWatted. Any 20 minute ride qualifies for the challenge; though members will likely have to ignore the class plan (unless taking a FTP test) to hit such numbers.
Given that members will be taking these rides from home, this challenge is more for fun than anything else. The fact that calibration can vary vastly between bikes (or be miscalibrated on purpose) makes any meaningful comparison more for entertainment purposes.
Based on the more official video shared today, and the new Watt Brothers page on the Peloton site – it sounds like there is more to come from this rivalry and marketing campaign.

Will you be pushing yourself to the limits in a 20 minute ride with Peloton’s new #OutWatt challenge?
