Bug with Pin Lock (Password) showing up on Peloton Tread during classes / Entertainment workouts

Owners of the Peloton Tread & Tread+ are reporting issues with the password (i.e. 4-digit pin lock) appearing and locking their class when it shouldn’t be.

Update – A similar bug took place in March 2025.

There appear to be two separate, but related issues.

One issue is when members are taking classes on the Tread where the belt is not moving. This could be a non-Tread class (like yoga, stretching, etc), or a Tread bootcamp class.

Normally, when taking these classes, the Tread stays unlocked for the entire class.

For those encountering the bug, within 30 seconds of the belt stopping – the pin code pops up. This is also happening during the floor portion of Tread bootcamp classes.

In a similar issue, others are reporting issues related to the pin lock when taking a Peloton Entertainment workout (i.e. reading an Amazon Kindle book, or watching Netflix, Disney+, etc).

Some members are having the pin lock randomly appear mid workout there, while others aren’t able to start the workout at all.

Reports of these issues started appearing this morning, and Peloton created a bug report this afternoon about it.

The name of the alert is:

Some reports of members unexpectedly seeing the pin lock during an entertainment experience or unable to initiate an entertainment experience.

At time of posting, the latest status on this was: “The team is currently investigating this issue.”
