Peloton Receives Top Score on Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index

Peloton has received a perfect score of 100 from the Human Rights Campaign in their annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI). Peloton CEO John Foley shared the news in a Tweet:

For the third year in a row, @onepeloton scored a perfect 100 on the @HRC Corporate Equality Index. An incredible honor to be recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality”. We’re committed to fostering an environment where our LGBTQ+ teammates can thrive.

Celebrating its 20th year, the Human Rights Campaign CEI is the “national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees.” For three years in a row Peloton has received the highest possible score.

There are four main scoring criteria used to determine rankings:

  1. Workforce protections
  2. Inclusive benefits
  3. Supporting an inclusive culture & corporate social responsibility
  4. Responsible citizenship

The central means that the Human Rights Campaign uses to obtain data is via survey. Each section of the survey requires documentation which is reviewed by Human Rights Campaign Foundation staff. In addition, the Human Rights Campaign investigates the policies and practices of each rated company, and examines any potential connections with anti-LGBTQ+ organizations or activities.

Peloton’s Head of Diversity & Inclusion shared additional details via LinkedIn, writing:

Taking part in the CEI enables us to understand how well we are supporting our LGBTQ+ team members, helping us identify areas for improvement and, importantly, allows us to learn from best practice examples that help us become an exemplary employer. As we cultivate our authentic, inclusive culture we put team member experience, wellbeing, and safety at the heart of what we do, learning and listening from their experiences.

The post also called out Peloton’s commitment to the Ali Forney Center, an organization that supports LGBTQ+ youth in New York City by providing housing support and resources for homeless teens. Peloton has partnered with the Ali Forney Center since 2019.
