Peloton Low Impact & Arms classes

New Official Peloton Class Type: “Low Impact & Arms” Ride

Peloton has introduced a new official class type: “Low Impact & Arms.” The first two classes launched this week from Emma Lovewell & Mayla Wedekind.

The new class type combines Peloton’s existing Low Impact Ride format with upper body work using free weights. The class description for Emma’s ride says:

“This ride is primarily spent in the saddle for a smooth, joint-friendly experience, while incorporating upper body segments with free weights to strengthen your arms and challenge your body. It delivers a solid sweat and is suitable for all levels.”

Peloton shared the news via social media, with the following message:

“Ride smarter, not harder. Gentle yet effective workouts await in Low Impact & Arms, a new kind of ride that delivers the cardio boost you love while minimizing stress on the body. Ideal for recovery, each endurance-building class includes upper body work and a focus on technique.”

Peloton has had hundreds of “Intervals & Arms” classes over the years, which combine interval training with free weight segments. Low Impact & Arms is a different take on that concept, trading the high-intensity interval structure for a steadier, joint-friendly ride, while keeping the upper body work.

While Low Impact & Arms is a new official class type, Peloton has had a few one-off rides in the past that combined low impact cycling with arms work. Tunde Oyeneyin taught a 30 min Low Impact ride back in 2022 that included an arms section and she teased it as a new class type she was trying out, though at the time it was simply labeled as a Low Impact Ride with arms added. That ride has since been purged. However, Tunde does have an upcoming new “Low Impact & Arms” ride being taught on Monday, May 4th.

Sam Yo also taught a 45 min Low Impact Ride in 2021 that incorporated arms.

Various older classes would also see Peloton instructors feature weight segments in non-intervals classes.

You can find all Peloton Low Impact & Arms classes in the on-demand library by filtering for Low Impact rides and enabling the weights toggle.

Will you be adding a Low Impact & Arms ride to your stack?
