Former Peloton Instructor Kendall Toole Discusses Leaving Peloton in New Podcast Interview

In a recent podcast appearance, former Peloton instructor Kendall Toole opened up about the behind-the-scenes discussions regarding her future at the company.

Kendall recently appeared on the “Pursuit of Wellness” podcast hosted by Mari Llewellyn. Towards the end of the episode, Kendall was directly asked about her decision to leave.

Kendall reemphasized sentiments she has shared previously; that she is grateful for her time at Peloton but ultimately felt that it was time to evolve and grow in her career.

However, Kendall did reveal that at one point, she offered to reduce her workload or even take a pay cut in order to stay at Peloton. She stated:

“There were conversations that were had. I talked to them about maybe doing less time and trying to find…You know, I’m like I’ll take a pay cut, I’ll do this. But, you know, that wasn’t exactly in line with what they wanted to me to do.”

In addition, Kendall also mentioned that New York City is “not her city” and she does not want to live there on a permanent basis. She also clarified that she did not take a severance and, at the time, did not know where her next paycheck was coming from. Kendall teased that she has been hard at work since leaving Peloton – including something “big” that will launch in 2025 – and is excited for what is to come.

Kendall provided some insight into her departure from Peloton back in July; however, this recent podcast appearance is the most specific she has been about the behind-the-scenes details.

It is also important to note that this is only one side of the story, and we don’t have Peloton’s perspective on these conversations or what other factors may have been at play.

Interestingly, this podcast segment aired shortly after current Peloton instructor Callie Gullickson revealed to members that she has decided to live in Florida full-time and commute up to New York City to continue her role with Peloton on a modified schedule. However, it is impossible to know the exact specifics of each scenario and, again, what other factors may have been relevant.

After initially teasing a big announcement in early June, Kendall shared that she was departing Peloton on June 13, 2024. Her last class took place on June 29 and had more than 19,000 live riders. Around the time of her departure Peloton unveiled a Greatest Hits Collection dedicated to some of her best classes from over the years.

I thought she was one of the better instructors. At least she didn’t constantly talk about her previously being a lawyer. That just becomes tiring after the 50th time…
