Peloton’s Chief Content Officer Jennifer Cotter Featured on The Shift’s “90 Plus One” List

Peloton’s Chief Content Officer Jennifer Cotter has been named to The Shift’s inaugural “90 Plus One” list, a recognition of women influencing contemporary culture, leadership, and innovation.

The Shift is a newly launched “cultural platform” aiming to highlight women’s stories. Its “90 Plus One” initiative celebrates leaders who are actively shaping the future, challenging systems, and shifting the way people understand influence, creativity, and progress.

Peloton’s Jennifer Cotter joins a group of honorees including Amal Clooney, Mariska Hargitay, Billie Jean King, Angelina Jolie, Amanda Gorman, Deepika Padukone, and many more, alongside cover star Gloria Steinem, whose 91 years of activism inspired the name of the list.

In a featured Q&A, Cotter reflected on her leadership philosophy, the women who inspire her, and the legacy she hopes to leave behind. As Peloton’s Chief Content Officer, she oversees a global team across content production, studios, events, apparel, and music.

The piece highlights her “unapologetically member-first” approach, saying that this has helped transform Peloton from a fitness company into a full-fledged entertainment brand, and redefined the role of the fitness instructor.

Cotter named Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, and her grandmother Marie Signorello as the three women who have most inspired her. She also credited her professional growth and inspiration to the Peloton instructors themselves. She explained:

“I’m certain this sounds cliche, but working with the Peloton Instructors is life-changing and inspiring as a Member and employee. The women on the team are next-level. Every single one. We have doctors, experts, influencers, authors, athletes, mothers, partners, survivors, and humans, and they are always evolving. A wonderfully diverse group of women, and they are everything our Members think they are. They believe anything is possible for them and others. It’s been a professional honor to watch them turn their dreams into reality. Specifically, I’ve learned to celebrate myself and that consistency wins over motivation —every day, you can be a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time, and if you choose to, you can make every day…a great day. Also, you absolutely have to do cardio AND lift weights to live a fit, long, strong, and happy life. All of their lessons have had a deep and lasting impact on my life and I’m incredibly thankful for it.”

When asked about the legacy she hopes to leave, Cotter stated:

“I hope my legacy shows that I take my job really seriously but that I don’t take myself seriously. I lead with trust and integrity, which gives me permission to be really honest when needed. I love highlighting other’s strengths (especially if that person hasn’t seen them yet). I understand that my role has power and impact – I look to remove obstacles and reduce chaos/stress where I can.”

The Shift shared the announcement on Instagram, calling the project “more than a magazine — it’s a movement.” The platform was created to honor the “intergenerational” power of women and serve as a space where legacy meets innovation, and celebrate stories of progress.
