Peloton Ends Ergatta Row Beta Game (Meteor & Races) Tests

Peloton has ended the beta testing of their Peloton rowing games launched in partnership with Ergatta, a company that makes rowers with only the ability to play video games rather than instructor-led classes. It appears that the feature will not roll out to all members or be explored further at this time.

In case you missed it, we previously shared in October of 2023 that Peloton was public beta testing “Meteor” and “Races” games for the Peloton Row in partnership with Ergatta. The beta test was limited, meaning that not all Row owners had access to the feature. The games allowed members to compete against others within the Peloton community via “dynamic 3D courses with multi-segment, distance-based workouts.”

Within the last week or so, the feature has disappeared for members who previously had access to it – with no communication or advance warning from Peloton.

A member asked a question about this in the Official Peloton Member Page on Facebook this week, and Peloton posted a response which seemed to indicate that the feature might not receive a full rollout.

Peloton stated:

“The two Ergatta experiences, Races and Meteor, will no longer be available for Peloton Row as of Thursday March 28, 2024. While we’ve decided to end the current Ergatta Beta Program, we’re always looking to test new features and fitness innovations, so check your Peloton Row or emails from Peloton for updates.”

This does leave a window open for them to do more beta tests with the games, as they said they are ending the “current” Ergatta Beta program – but at this time it didn’t sound like that is the plan.

Peloton did not provide any insight or context behind the removal of the feature, or why it is not being expanded to all members.

If you had access to the Ergatta beta test for Peloton Row, what were your thoughts on the feature?

Loved the Race feature but Meteor didn’t do much for me, especially compared to LANEBREAK.
I was bummed to see them gone though

  • Leah says:

I had it and actually really enjoyed them. They were perfect for a 10-15min row where I wanted to push myself. I was disappointed to see the feature was gone and surprised there was no communication or explanation… 😔

  • Stian Myraas (Pelathalon) says:

I had the beta. It was was favorite feature across all peloton platforms and kept me coming back routinely. I can’t come close to my output scores from meteor in any other row workout. I am very sad to see it leave.

Bummed to see ergatta go away from Peloton. Seriously thinking of ditching Peloton Row and buying an Ergatta Rower because the app was that good.
