Peloton’s Future Class & Content Focuses Discussed in Recent “Forbes” Article

Peloton’s content & class strategy is continuing to evolve; and the direction is becoming clearer, thanks to a recent Forbes spotlight on the company’s women leaders.

In the piece, Peloton’s Chief Content Officer Jen Cotter shared an inside look at what the future holds for Peloton programming. According to the article:

Peloton has long been synonymous with cycling workouts, but as fitness trends evolve, so does the company’s content strategy. That’s why Cotter is focused on expanding Peloton’s offerings beyond its traditional bike and tread classes.

While the brand remains rooted in its cardio-based legacy, Cotter confirmed that strength training continues to be a major focus area, with more than 2 million members logging strength workouts in Q2 2025, totaling 735 million minutes. Though Peloton remains committed to the discipline they were founded upon – cycling – they are heavily focused on strength. Cotter explained:

“While Peloton is best known for cardio workouts, Strength is our No. 2 modality. We will continue innovating in both areas, particularly with our Bike, Tread, and Row portfolios.”

Peloton’s new Strength+ app – which was unveiled in December of 2024 after a three month beta phase – is a testament to this. The app is entirely separate from the existing Peloton digital app and is free for All-Access and App+ members – and is entirely focused on Strength content.

But Cotter didn’t stop there; she hinted at a broader vision for what is next. She stated:

“The future of programming includes more discussion about personal goals, more science influence, and bringing fitness outside the traditional ‘class’ environment.”

That statement aligns with subtle shifts members may have already noticed over the past several months, such as the rollout of Personalized Plans, a feature on the Peloton App that delivers a weekly workout plan based on the member’s personal preferences and past workout history.

Cotter has also previously hinted at exploring sleep, rest, and nutrition; nutrition in particular was a topic that ignited a lot of member conversation and resulted in Peloton providing an additional statement and context regarding the matter. Last fall Peloton unveiled a new class type in “post-meal walks.”

Peloton has also started featuring various experts in classes in a new outdoor “Health Walk” series – all led by Matt Wilpers so far.

It is worth noting that this direction seems to be holding steady under Peloton’s new CEO Peter Stern, who, thus far in his first few months on the job, hasn’t made any sharp pivots away from Peloton’s existing content & class strategy.
