Peloton App Update Allowing Members to Manually Input Distance at the End of the Workout

Peloton has released a new update to the digital app that allows members to manually add distance to their workouts. From there, the feature computes average pace and speed, and stores that data in the workout history on the member’s profile.

This feature appears to be rolling out to both the iOS and Android apps, and members have shared reports of utilizing it on running rowing, and cycling classes so far.

The new screen to manually input your distance now appears at the end of the class after the workout is complete. The distance can be entered in either miles or kilometers.

If the distance data is entered, the app will then calculate additional metrics that are not typically available for classes taken on the app, such as distance, average pace, and average speed. Calories are also still shown.

If you opt not to enter your distance, the app will not display those additional statistics – only calories.

This new feature allows members to both receive and record more comprehensive workout statistics for classes taken on the digital app.

Special thanks to @heyyyitsericm, @adaakajimba, Damien C, and others for sharing their experiences with the new feature.

Will this new feature to manually enter your distance into the app be helpful to you moving forward?

Does it prioritize running distance data form Apple Watch first? Can you adjust it? The distance data it pulls from the Apple Watch is always wrong!

  • Ethel Lowther says:

completely confused by the new enter your own distance. Is that if you are doing a treadmill run outdoors? the app already calculates distance, avg pace, and avg speed on the outdoor runs/walks, and all those metrics are already available for the row. How would I even calculate the distance on my own on the row? Is this for people not using a peloton rower or other peloton equipment? I have also gotten all these statistics on a “just run” or “just walk” workout.

if you are taking an indoor class on the app for say, run, walk, hike, row, bike…. you don’t get distance credit. This allows you to enter how far you went. Previously, you only got credit for classes if you were on a peloton branded machine.
    Does that help clarify?

app seems unable to do math correctly

  • Richard Steeg says:

Does anyone know what version has this ability?

  • E says:

What version of the Android app has this feature? I don’t have it yet but no updates available in the Play store.

  • Emily says:

Yes! Thank you. Why isn’t it calculating properly?!

  • Jennifer says:

does this work on classes taken just on my mobile device or also if i’m taking classes thru the app on my TV as well? Have only seen it ask me if it’s taken on my phone.

This shit is fire af dude

  • Kelly says:

Is there a place to see your total distance for the month? My app in March let me manually track my miles since I don’t use a Peloton bike.

  • Hilaryatl says:

This worked one week and now isn’t working anymore

  • Beth Haynes says:

The outdoor runs always tracked my miles and gave me a map of my run and now I have to manually enter it? My watch is running the app so I have no way to know my mileage. If the app can’t track my runs I will have to cancel membership.

  • Lindsey says:

I did two outdoor runs today back to back. My first tracked just fine the old one. The second one asked for mileage and I ignored it. Now it doesn’t show I ran any miles or burned any calories and there isn’t a way to fix it. Super frustrating. My Apple Watch move ring isn’t closed and I ran 5 miles total.

  • Robert Flutie says:

How do you edit an incorrect entry? I put 1.3KM instead of 13KM. How do i change that in the app?

  • Laurie says:

How do you turn off this feature? It is not helpful at all and is a detractor to using the subscription for outdoor workouts. The mileage the previous version tracked for outdoor runs was just fine and I don’t have another way to track my mileage while running outdoors. This version does not track calories accurately as I ran 30 minutes and it says I burned 28 cals.
