The original Peloton bike is not available for sale by Peloton in the US & Canada on their own website.
Interested buyers are met with a “Currently Unavailable” message when attempting to purchase the original Bike. The same applies for the bike rental program.
However, buyers are still able to purchase a refurbished original Peloton Bike.
A Peloton spokesperson shared that this was due to the original bike being “sold out”, stating that: “At this time, we are currently sold out of our Bike inventory, though Bike+ remains available. For those interested in Bike only, purchases can be made through Peloton’s Certified Peloton Refurbished Bikes program.”
At this time, the Peloton Bike only appears to be unavailable in the US & Canada – the UK & Australia are still offering it for sale (and Peloton no longer does direct sales in Austria & Germany). It is not common for Peloton to have products be “currently unavailable” on their own website – even during times of peak demand in previous years, they would instead just increase the shipping time, and inform potential buyers that it might take weeks or months for their orders to arrive.
This out of stock message comes as there are reports of Peloton planning updates to some of their products this fall – including the original Peloton bike. Peloton could be pivoting their manufacturing lines to support the upgraded models, as well as beginning to build inventory of the refreshed models, if those reports are correct – explaining why the original Bike is going out of stock now.

These reports of product updates aligns with messaging from Peloton CEO Peter Stern, who has said that he would announce the future product roadmap for Peloton sometime before the holiday season.
Bloomberg has reported that the refresh for the original Peloton Bike would include a screen that could swivel and rotate, much like the Peloton Bike+ has. Other products in the Peloton portfolio could also be refreshed, such as the Peloton Tread+ receiving a newer, but smaller, monitor.
No details were shared in the report about the specifics of the new monitors, however, we have seen patents for updated screens that include the Peloton Guide technology built into it, and the studios in New York were recently upgraded to include 4K cameras.
As the Peloton Bike is the lower-end model, it’s possible that some of the new screen technology would remain exclusive to the Peloton Bike+ – even if the original Bike is refreshed with a rotating screen.
This comes a little over a month after Peloton ended sales of the Peloton Guide. The Bike is only expected to be removed temporarily – and be added back when the fall product refresh is available, whereas the Peloton Guide sales ending is more permanent.
We will share updates on the Peloton Bike being added back and the product refreshes as more information becomes available.
