Peloton iOS App Search Updated With “Recent Searches” and “Discover Categories”

In recent weeks, the Peloton iOS app has been updated with a few subtle changes to the search page, aimed at making it easier to find and revisit favorite classes.

The recent updates include the introduction of a “Recent Searches” feature and a new section called “Discover Categories,” both of which streamline class discovery and offer new opportunities for Peloton to highlight specific content.

One of the new updates is the “Recent Searches” section. This feature remembers your last five searches, allowing you to quickly revisit past search results with a single click. Whether you’re looking to retake a favorite class or explore similar workouts, this feature adds convenience for those who frequently search for the same types of content.

Another new change is the addition of the “Discover Categories” section, which appears below the main search box. This new feature takes advantage of the previously unused space on the search page, offering pre-populated class suggestions based on various categories. Currently, about three pages of options are available, which users can explore with a single tap.

This section serves two main purposes. First, the promotion of key class types. Peloton can now highlight specific types of classes to drive awareness or encourage users to explore new workout formats.

Second, the opportunity for more personalized recommendations. Over time, this feature may evolve to include tailored suggestions based on individual user preferences, promoting classes that are likely to match the member’s interests.

These updates follow another recent tweak to the search functionality. Earlier this year, Peloton introduced rotating text suggestions within the search box itself. This feature offers random class prompts, such as: “Try ‘EDM Run'” or “Try ‘Pop Pilates’,” giving members ideas and prompts for what to search for when they may be unsure of where to start.

These new features indicate Peloton’s efforts to make content discovery faster and more personalized. The integration of the “Recent Searches” and “Discover Categories” features adds another layer of user-friendliness, enabling members to either dive back into their recent activity or explore new classes they might not have considered before.

As a reminder, these updates are currently only applicable to the iOS app; not the Android app. If you’re an iOS user, have you noticed these features with the latest update, and will they be useful to you?

Are you sure that this is a general rollout, not just a limited beta test your team has been included in? I am on the newest version of the iOS Pelton app and don’t see this new search functionality.

I am from Germany, but I have an US account and my language is set to English. And so far, I’ve always received all updates you’ve reported.
