Peloton Employee Nick Mead & Katie Ledecky to Serve as U.S. Flag Bearer During Olympics Closing Ceremony

Peloton employee Nick Mead – who won an Olympic gold medal earlier this week – has been named as one of the flag bearers for Team USA for the 2024 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, August 11.

In case you missed it, we shared earlier this week that Peloton employee Nick Mead won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics currently unfolding in Paris, France.

Nick works as a Senior Transportation Planner for Peloton and competed in the four-man rowing event on August 1, finishing in first place for Team USA.

Since then, Nick has been selected as one of the flag bearers for the Closing Ceremony along with swimmer Katie Ledecky – who has won 14 Olympic medals thus far in her career.

Team USA shared the news via Instagram today, saying:

CLOSING U.S. OUT 🇺🇸
14x Olympic medalist @katieledecky and Olympic gold medalist Nick Mead will lead Team USA as flag bearers at the #ParisOlympics Closing Ceremony!

They later posted a video of Nick’s teammates telling him that he had been selected to be a flag bearer – sharing with him he will be the first US rower ever with that honor.

The role of Olympic flag bearer is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an athlete, often selected by their country’s Olympic committee or fellow athletes. Carrying the flag during the Opening or Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games symbolizes national pride and embodies the spirit of the country and its athletes.

Athletes LeBron James and Coco Gauff carried the American flag at the Opening Ceremony of the Games a few weeks ago.

You can watch the 2024 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 11 – live at 3:00pm ET or re-aired on primetime at 7:00pm ET – on NBC or the Peacock app.

Another tremendous congratulations to Nick!
