This morning, Becs Gentry successfully finished The Great World Race (2024 edition) – finishing in second place overall for women in the race.
In this race, Becs Gentry ran 7 marathons in a row, over 7 days, spanning all 7 continents across the world.
The race was originally scheduled to start on November 15th, 2024 (you can find more about the race itself here). However, due to weather conditions in Antartica, the organizers decided to start the race a day earlier in order to have the best weather possible to fly into & out of Antartica and safely race on the continent. This meant the 2024 Great World Race would start on November 14th, and end on November 20th (instead of the original November 21st date).
To start the week-long race off, Becs Gentry finished the Antartica marathon in 3:20:44, giving her 3rd place for the women. Ashley Paulson took 1st for the day with 3.18:02, while Hillary Kupish took second with 3.19:53.

The race organizers shared that the top 5 women all “broke the previous Antarctica continental marathon record” with their races that day.
The racers had staged in Cape Town, South Africa leading up to the race, and flew into & out of Antartica that same day day they raced. Upon their return, they then raced in Cape Town the next day for Marathon 2 of the race, completing the Africa portion of the race.

Becs finished Marathon 2 (Africa) of the Great World Race in 3:15:46. The top 5 women (Ashley Paulson, Becs Gentry, Chirine Njeim, Jenny Simpson, and Hillary Kupish) all chose to run & finish this marathon of the race – giving Becs a share of the 5-way tie for 1st place for the day.
From there, the racers flew to Perth, Australia for the third leg of the race. However, there was a flight delay and the start time got pushed back slightly – eventually starting around 2:00pm local time.

Becs finished the Australia leg of the race in 3:02:54. The top 4 women (Ashley Paulson, Becs Gentry, Chirine Njeim, and Hillary Kupish) all finished the race together, giving Becs a share of the 4-way tie for 1st place for the Australian marathon.

The 4th and 5th marathons of the races took place in Istanbul, Turkey – where one day of the race was the European side, and the other race was the Asian side. Originally, the racers were scheduled to do the Asia leg first, then Europe, but the decision was made to swap the order. Due to the delay in Perth, this also delayed the start for Race 4 – with the race starting at 6:00pm local time.

Becs finished the Europe marathon (Race 4) in 3:07:45 – tying for second place Ashley Paulson as Hillary Kupish took the win for the day with a time of 3:05:44.
Given the late start for the day for Marathon #4, this led to a short turnaround for Marathon #5 (also in Istanbul, Turkey but on the Asian side). She followed her performance with a near identical time from the night before, finishing Marathon #5 in 3:07:58 – 3rd place for the day. Ashley Paulson took first place for the day in 2:57:11 while Hillary Kupish took second with 2:58:46.

As these races in Istanbul were going on, Becs shared that she was dealing with some pain in her foot – but that did not stop her from finishing the marathons.
Following the races in Istanbul, there was another flight delay as the racers flew to Cartagena (Colombia), South America for the 6th marathon of the race on Tuesday. This led to another delay in the original start time for this day as well. There was high heat and humidity for the day – with with temperatures nearing 90 degrees.

Becs finished the South America marathon, but shared it was “one of the most difficulty marathons I have ever run due to the heat and humidity.”

From there, the racers flew on to Miami, Florida for the final leg of their race, which kicked off around 7:00am ET. The Bec’s Beasts team had assembled a cheering squad in Miami, who were there to cheer and support Becs as she finished. In addition, several of her Peloton instructor teammates were onhand as well – with Ally Love, Alex Toussaint, Robin Arzon, and Camila Ramon all having flown to Miami to support Becs at the finish.

Becs Gentry finished the North America marathon in Miami alongside Hillary Kupish in a tie for first for the day. The official standings appear to show Becs in 1st for Miami with a time of 3:11:17, and Hillary in 2nd with a time of 3:11:18.

She was greeted by her daughter Tallulah, as well as her partner Austin Curtis, at the finish line in Miami.
Her time was fast enough in the final day to earn her second place overall for women in The Great World Race 2024 (and Hillary Kupish earned first place overall with her finish).
Becs first announced that she would take part in the race in July, and has been sharing her training & preparation via both social media and her Peloton classes. Peloton released a special marathon prep class as the race was starting where Becs shared more about her training.

Congratulations to Becs Gentry on this accomplishment.
