Anna Greenberg has a special new Yoga + Pilates class series taking place on Peloton.
This will be a 4-part class series focusing specifically on the “Deep Core” muscles and will incorporate equipment and feature Yoga as well as Pilates moves throughout each class.
The first class in the series was released on September 3rd @ 12:00am ET.
The official class description is:
“Take your practice to the next level with Anna! Strengthen the deepest layers of your core, build stability in your pelvic floor, and activate your 360° powerhouse in this special Yoga + Pilates class— now with equipment for an extra challenge.”
With the class series launch, Anna shared more details on Instagram as to what members should expect from this Deep Core Yoga + Pilates series.
Anna shared similarities and differences between the Deep Core-specific Yoga + Pilates classes and the regular Yoga + Pilates class format. The Deep Core series will have the same combination-style warmup and will then switch between Yoga and Pilates sections during class, but there will be fewer and longer sections compared to a typical Yoga + Pilates class. The movements in Deep Core will also be slower, but not necessarily easier.

Music-wise, expect to hear deep house during the Deep Core Yoga sections and 90s music during the Pilates sections.
All the Deep Core series classes will use a Pilates overball as a prop to really target the deep core muscles in both the Yoga and Pilates sections of class. However, if you don’t have a Pilates ball, you can substitute a yoga block instead.
Anna shared that beginner & intermediate yogis can take the Deep Core classes – the moves are slower and the classes are meant to be repeated. As for pregnant and postpartum members, these classes are generally safe but some modifications might be necessary, especially during pregnancy. Anna suggested that anyone pregnant or postpartum should check with their care provider before starting this series.
Lastly, Anna explained how the Deep Core series is different than the Pilates classes with equipment. There will be crossover moves between the two, but the Deep Core class format is different because it incorporates Yoga. Anna said:
“I put ‘Deep Core’ in the title because even though Pilates does generally target the deep core muscles, we don’t always talk about them so much in every single class. We don’t always specifically reference the pelvic floor, the transverse abdominal muscles, the diaphragm. We don’t always talk about the breath as much as I’d like to. So in this class I really made the space to address those things and make them a priority and use the props in a way that specifically targets them both to feel the strength, support, and stability and also the length and fluidity.”
At this time it’s not clear when Peloton will release the remaining 3 classes in Anna Greenberg’s “Deep Core” Yoga + Pilates series.
