Peloton Hosting 2026 Chicago Marathon Shakeout Run with Kirsten Ferguson

Peloton is hosting a free shakeout run in Chicago ahead of the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, led by Kirsten Ferguson.

The event will take place Friday, October 9 at Caffè Oliva at Ohio Street Beach, two days before the marathon on Sunday, October 11.

The run is open to both Peloton members and non-members, although advance registration is required and spots are limited.

Peloton describes the event as:

“Come join us for a shakeout run ahead of race day led by Peloton Tread Instructor Kirsten Ferguson. We will meet at Caffè Oliva at Ohio Street Beach, where you can drop off your bags and personal belongings and enjoy complimentary refreshments and light bites after the run.”

The route will cover 5K, beginning and ending at Caffè Oliva, located at 550 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611.

Peloton says the group will run at a conversational pace, with the session meant as a warm-up ahead of Sunday’s race.

Runners of all levels are welcome. Check-in begins at 4:45pm and the run will start at 5:30pm. The full event is scheduled to end by 7:30pm.

A bag drop will be available at Caffè Oliva, and runners can enjoy complimentary beverages and light snacks after the run.

There are no shower facilities.

Spots for the run are complimentary and limited to one reservation per person.

Runners must RSVP and complete an activity waiver before the run begins. Peloton also notes that the outdoor event could be changed or canceled if adverse weather requires it.

Earlier this year Kirsten launched her three-week “Call Yourself a Runner” program, designed for members who are new to running or returning after an injury.

Peloton is specifically pointing Chicago shakeout participants toward the program on the event registration page as one way to continue preparing for race day.

The Chicago event follows Peloton’s Berlin Marathon shakeout run with Jeffrey McEachern on September 26.

This will also be the second consecutive year Peloton has hosted a Chicago Marathon shakeout at Caffè Oliva.

The 2025 event was led by Matt Wilpers, Marcel Dinkins, and Joslyn Thompson Rule in partnership with Chicago wellness community MoveMENt.

The 48th Bank of America Chicago Marathon takes place Sunday, October 11, with approximately 55,000 runners expected to participate.

Anyone interested in joining the shakeout can register through Peloton’s event page here. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
