Peloton introduced a new series of hiking classes this week with specific incline percentages for the duration of each class. These new classes are called “Hike %” or “% Hike” classes.
Peloton has added these classes to a new collection called % Hike. The collection describes them as:
Set your incline and power up every step. Build lower body strength and stamina with our new % Hike classes.
At present, there are five total % Hike Peloton classes.
List of Peloton % Hike Classes
- 10-Minute 6% Hike with Rebecca Kennedy
- 10-Minute 8% Hike with Jon Hosking
- 10-Minute 10% Hike with Kirsten Ferguson
- 10-Minute 10% Hike with Mayla Wedekind (in German)
- 10-Minute 12% Hike with Joslyn Thompson Rule

Each class begins with a one-minute warmup, followed by eight minutes at a specific incline and then a one-minute cooldown.
They also describe themselves as being “to build your incline endurance.”
In addition to the incline, the classes are taught using walking pace targets. Rebecca Kennedy’s hike, for example, has the following structure:
- 1 minute flat road brisk pace warmup
- Two intervals of:
- 1 minute 6% incline at easy pace/li>
- 1 minute 6% incline at brisk pace
- 2 minutes 6% incline at power walk pace
- 1 minute flat road recovery pace cooldown
All hikes can be found in the “Walking” class category, or the new collection.

The new hiking classes follow a trend by Peloton to create shorter, specific fitness-focused Tread & Tread+ classes. In March of 2025, Peloton unveiled a series of “Extra Steps” walking classes. The Extra Steps classes are designed to help members achieve certain step counts throughout the class while following a specific BPM (beats per minute) measurement. While four Extra Steps classes were originally announced in March, Peloton added more classes in September, and the class library now has almost 20 Extra Steps classes. Users can search “Extra Steps” to find them all.
More recently, over the summer, Peloton reintroduced “Free Mode” with a series of “Extra 10: Free Mode” running classes taught by Matty Maggiacomo, Matt Wilpers, and Andy Speer. Free Mode was designed for the Tread+ and enables users to power down the Tread+ motor, allowing them to use their own legs / leg strength to move the belt. That said, regular Tread users can use Free Mode and adjust their speeds accordingly. While Free Mode had existed in previous running classes, the new content marked the first time in four years that Peloton called attention to Free Mode.
It remains to be seen how often Peloton adds new “% Hike” classes.
