Peloton has its sights set on broadening its role in members’ wellness journeys, with plans to expand offerings in nutrition and hydration.
Peloton CEO Peter Stern recently highlighted the company’s vision beyond fitness hardware and classes.
Stern explained that Peloton’s long-term focus goes beyond its core cycling and running offerings. During the Q&A portion of Peloton’s earnings call, he stated:
“We plan to support our members’ wellness journeys by expanding our offerings in strength, where we are already a category leader, mental well-being, sleep and recovery, and over time, nutrition and hydration.”
Peloton has already taken early steps toward this new direction. Stern revealed that the company is essentially using its content team as a research and development (R&D) lab for nutrition. Peloton recently launched “Peloton Nutrition” with a “Peloton Kitchen” series on social media that has featured various instructors cooking their favorite nutrient-dense recipes. Peloton also introduced Dr. Jaime Schehr as their “Peloton Nutritionist.”
During the call Stern explained:
“And then we’re basically using our content team as an R&D lab on nutrition. We’ve been working in partnership with Doctor Jamie Scher, who’s an expert nutritionist and dietitian, and we’re going to be testing and iterating on nutritional content over time.”
Peloton has been hinting at its intentions to expand into the nutrition space for at least a year, with leadership discussing nutrition and sleep as potential new categories of business. After some members expressed concern, Peloton confirmed that any nutrition-focused content would be “additive” and outside of classes. This has held true so far with the introduction of the Peloton Kitchen social media series.

Hydration also appears to be on the roadmap, though Peloton has not yet shared any specific plans. With hydration and nutrition being natural extensions of Peloton’s strength, recovery, and wellness content, members could expect new offerings to be introduced soon.
Peloton has also teased more innovations and effort around sleep & meditation.
