New kettlebell program on Peloton Strength+ app from Dre Mayes.

Guest Peloton Instructor Adriell Dre Mayes “The Kettlebell Experience” Program on Peloton Strength+ App

With Peloton’s launch this week of kettlebell classes comes a new Peloton guest instructor, Adriell “Dre” Mayes. He is teaching a new 2-week long “Kettlebell Experience” program on the Strength+ app.

Peloton and Dre both shared the announcement on Instagram, with Peloton sharing some background on its newest guest instructor:

“Dre is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified trainer and a leader in kettlebell training. With a focus on strength, mobility, and targeted leg and core workouts, Dre brings his energy and knowledge to guide you through a 2-week immersive program, “The Kettlebell Experience.”

The Kettlebell Experience is Peloton’s first ever kettlebell strength program. The link to this program will direct you to it if you are accessing from a phone with the Strength+ app installed. Otherwise, you will be directed to Peloton’s main Strength+ information page.

When asked why people should add kettlebell training to their fitness regimen, Dre shared:

“It offers strength, conditioning, and there can also be a mobility and flexibility aspect of it. More and more it’s about coordination and understanding your own center of gravity of your body, your core strength. So it kinda forces you to expose weaknesses you didn’t know you had.”

There is a special promo from now until March 11 where new Strength+ app users can get 2 free months of access when redeeming via the link on Peloton’s kettlebell blog post from an iOS mobile device.

The Kettlebell Experience program, the latest program on the Strength+ app following Andy & Joslyn’s new programs, is a 2-week intermediate program with workouts 3 days a week. In addition to using a kettlebell, this program’s workouts also use a bench, loop band, and plyo box.

The program description for The Peloton Kettlebell Experience program is:

“This 2-week kettlebell program is for the intermediate lifter looking to improve strength, endurance, and mobility with a focus on functional fitness.”

Dre shared during the program preview on the Strength+ app:

“Over the next two weeks, we’ll start by building the foundation of the kettlebell movements before progressing to more advanced and complex exercises. You’ll learn how to control and stabilize your body while also pushing yourself to new levels of strength by increasing the weight you’re lifting.”

The suggested program schedule is workouts on days 1, 3, and 5 with recovery on the remaining days each week. Workouts are 45 minutes in duration.

I have tried this KB workout – week 1 day 1 gave a good workout. I have to caveat and say for someone with experience of grips on the KB. There was little voice coaching in the class to remind you of your form.

He did have a short with common mistakes and one was the single hand grip, which often times puts the KB on the forearm and causes bruising when not done properly. But not a step by step in how to rack the KB. I was hoping for more since this was supposed to be a beginner training
