Peloton Instructor Becs Gentry has segment on NBC for the 2024 Paris Olympics Women’s Marathon

Peloton instructor Becs Gentry appeared on NBC during a segment for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

In case you missed it, we shared earlier this year that Becs would be commentating at the Olympics as part of the NBC team. She covered the women’s marathon, which took place on the final day of the 2024 Olympic games on August 11.

The day prior was the men’s marathon, and in between the two events Paris hosted the “Marathon Pour Tous” – or “Marathon for All” – which was a marathon that anyone could run on the Olympics course that evening. The “Marathon Pour Tous” is a historic event in itself, marking the first time an Olympic marathon course was opened up to the public, allowing anyone to experience the same course that Olympic athletes run.

Becs ran in this marathon, and recently shared about the experience on Instagram:

Marathon Pour Tous, Paris 2024
The experience of this race was unlike anything I have run before. From the wild start time to the non stop supporters and all the people from all over the world coming together for joy of moving their body over the marathon distance as one strong community.

In her post, Becs shared her excitement and insights about the race, which also served as part of her training for her next major challenge – running seven marathons in seven days as part of the Great World Race in November of 2024. Becs completed the marathon in approximately three hours.

Becs was then up bright and early the next morning to continue her work with NBC. She appeared on air just before the start of the women’s marathon, offering expert commentary on the course and sharing her personal experience from the night before.

In the segment, Becs described the Paris marathon course as challenging, with rolling hills, underpasses, and uneven terrain. She highlighted three steep hills, with the final climb feeling as intense as a ski lift, followed by a downhill run into Paris. The stunning views and energetic crowd made the experience memorable. Becs emphasized the mental and physical demands of the course, warning that the heat would increase the difficulty and urging hydration.

Also of note is that this was the first time the women’s marathon took center stage over the men’s, closing out the Olympics. Becs described it as “elating” to witness female runners gaining prominence, noting that this moment reflects the incredible strength and power of women in the sport right now.

We’ve shared several recent articles relating to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, including a look back at Peloton’s 2018 Pyeongchang classes, as well as Peloton employee Nick Mead winning a gold medal, becoming a U.S. flag bearer at the Closing Ceremony, and getting ready to appear in an upcoming class with Alex Karwoski.
